STAGE

This section describes the intention and general approach of STAGE.

General Overview

STAGE is Riedel’s new generation software platform to manage server-based applications that can run on different types of computer platforms such as mini PCs, on-prem servers and virtual machines.

After the Virtual SmartPanel (VSP), the first product on this new platform, comes SAME – the Smart Audio & Mixing Engine. STAGE is used for both Configuration, Operation and Monitoring of these new Riedel products.

STAGE is the central brain that brings various elements together such as SAME, Virtual SmartPanel app, Artist-1024, WebRTC Server, as well as 3rd party authentication system and 3rd party monitoring solutions.

STAGE introduces a new and intuitive browser-based user interface, accessible via off-the-shelf web browsers so there is no need for a client application to be installed on Client computers.

STAGE has the following key functionalities such as:

  • The ability to connect to Company User Database using either External User Directory or Identity Provider to support Centralized Authentication services.

  • The ability to create individual User as well as Group Permissions to control access to STAGE and Virtual SmartPanel.

  • The ability to discover NMOS devices and to process their AES67 / SMPTE ST 2110-30 audio signals using the Smart Audio Mixer Engine (SAME).

  • The ability to create Jobs which defines the collection of resources required for a Production or a live event. The configuration of all Devices and Applications as well as connections between inputs (consumers) and outputs (producers) that are specific to a production (or an event) lives inside a Job. Jobs can be activated wherever the necessary resources are available.

  • The ability to collect extensive Metrics and Logs that can be integrated into 3rd party tools e.g. to create various monitoring dashboards.

STAGE is a brand-new architecture made of multiple containerized services, which allows it to scale and grow as we continue, in the future, to add support for more devices and services. STAGE follows EBU143 security recommendations.
