Caution

Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Minimum hi Version: v2.6.1

Overview

The integration listed in hi as Amazon Web Services (AWS) > Multiviewer sends UMD labels and Tally states using the Amazon Solutions UMD format over UDP. The catalog name identifies the hi template. Confirm receiver compatibility and device setup with the receiver supplier.

Network Requirements

  • Connection Model: Outbound from hi

  • Multicast / Unicast: Unicast only

  • VLAN / IGMP: No multicast configuration is required.

  • Bandwidth: Control traffic only.

  • IP Version: IPv4

  • Firewall: Allow outbound UDP from hi to the configured endpoint, Port 4800 by default.

Label and Tally message output

Vendor protocol implemented by the hi integration

Operator Workflow

  • UI Surface in hi: Inventory UMD settings

  • Information Sent: UMD label text and Tally state

  • Routing Semantics: This integration sends display data only; it does not route Sources or recall layouts.

  • Tally / UMD Relationship: hi sends Amazon Solutions UMD data so the receiving display can show production labels and Tally state.

Supported Features

Access

Exposed Operation and Scope

Tally Information

Write-only output

Send configured Tally state to the multiviewer endpoint; the integration does not read Tally state back.

Label Information

Write-only output

Send UMD label text to the multiviewer endpoint; the integration does not read label state back.

Label Resend

Write-only output

Send all labels and Tally states again about every 10 minutes, and on demand with the Re-Send all UMDs operation.

Idle Rotation

Write-only output

When Enable Rotation is on, send the labels again one after another while no other update occurs, at the Rotation Interval.

Device Coverage

Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies devices that use the same protocol or connection method but have not been tested with hi. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.

Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified)

  • Amazon Solutions UMD endpoints that expose the supported Tally and label surface.

Known Limitations

  • The vendor UMD protocol is one-way and carries no acknowledgment, so the display never confirms receipt. hi sends all labels and Tally states again about every 10 minutes over UDP, and the Re-Send all UMDs operation sends them on demand. A display that starts after a message was sent can show stale text until the next resend. Use Re-Send all UMDs after a display restarts.

  • The Amazon UMD protocol expects the sender to repeat its messages every couple of seconds to refresh the displays. hi resends about every 10 minutes. For a faster refresh, turn on Enable Rotation and set the Rotation Interval.

  • The vendor message format carries a short label of up to 14 characters and a Tally byte with green, red, and amber states. hi does not shorten a longer label: a label of more than 14 characters is not sent. Labels use ASCII characters only. hi sends red, green, and amber Tally states; other states appear as no Tally.

  • The vendor address byte carries a base display address and a window position for up to four windows. hi sends Display Id minus one as the base address, and Screen Id 0 to 3 as the window position. Use Display Id values from 1 to 64. hi does not send an entry whose Screen Id is higher than 3.

  • Network routing to the UMD receiver depends on the commissioned solution architecture.

  • If labels or Tally states do not appear, verify the receiver address, UDP Port, and network route from the hi server.

What's Not Supported

  • Layout authoring, layout recall, routing, and on-screen graphic design.

  • The amber underline Tally state of the vendor protocol. hi sends only green, red, and amber.

  • The serial connection of the vendor protocol. hi sends the messages over UDP only.
