Amazon Web Services Multiviewer Integration Configuration

Amazon Web Services Multiviewer Integration Configuration

Caution

Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Configuration Overview

hi sends UMD labels and Tally states to an Amazon Solutions UMD-compatible receiver over UDP. The endpoint does not answer, so hi cannot confirm delivery. The display address and window position of each UMD entry in hi must match the display setup.

Configuration

What hi Sees

Use When

Amazon UMD Output

A Multiviewer Node with a UMD Settings tab.

The endpoint receives Amazon UMD messages from hi.

Caution

A label of more than 14 characters is not sent. Plan the label text and the text Source of each UMD entry so that the label fits.

Before You Begin

  • Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes. See Manage Nodes.

  • Confirm the license and minimum hi version in Required Configuration.

  • Confirm with the receiver supplier how the endpoint receives Amazon Solutions UMD messages over UDP, and record its address and Port.

  • Confirm the network access in Network Requirements.

Configure Amazon UMD Output

Device Configuration

  1. Set the endpoint to receive Amazon Solutions UMD messages over UDP. Confirm the setup with the receiver supplier.

  2. Set the display address of each display that hi labels. The vendor protocol encodes a base address and a window position, so a dual display at address 5 shows its second window as 5A.

  3. Record the display address and window of each label that hi must send.

hi Configuration

  1. Add the Multiviewer integration (manufacturer Amazon Web Services (AWS)) in Inventory.

  2. Enter the IPv4 address of the endpoint and the Port. hi does not send UMD data to a host name. hi defaults to 4800. Allow outbound UDP from hi to the endpoint on this Port.

  3. Enter Input Count and Output Count in the Port Settings group. The defaults are 16 and 2. These settings are available only when you create the Node.

  4. Create the Node.

  5. Open the UMD Settings tab and add the UMD entries. Set Screen Id to the window position: 0 for the first window, 1 for window A, 2 for window B, and 3 for window C. Set Display Id to a value from 1 to 64. hi sends Display Id minus one as the base address. See Configure UMD Labels.

  6. Optional: on the General tab, adjust Message Delay, Enable Rotation, and Rotation Interval. See Multiviewer Nodes.

Common Checks

Symptom

Check

No label appears.

Confirm the endpoint address, the UDP Port, and the network route from hi. Confirm that the label has 14 characters or fewer.

The wrong display or window updates.

Confirm Display Id and Screen Id. hi sends Display Id minus one as the base address.

One UMD entry never updates.

Confirm that its Screen Id is 3 or lower.

The display shows old text after a restart.

Select Re-Send all UMDs on the General tab, or turn on Enable Rotation.

A Tally color does not appear.

hi sends only red, green, and amber. Other Tally states appear as no Tally.

Verify the Configuration

Set a short test label and a red Tally on one UMD entry in hi. Confirm that the matching display window shows the label and the Tally. Then select Re-Send all UMDs and confirm that all configured windows show their labels.
