Generic TSL-Compatible Multiviewer
Production
Recommended for normal production use.
Caution
Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Minimum hi Version: v1.1.0
Overview
hi sends TSL UMD labels and Tally states to a compatible Multiviewer. The UMD receiver settings of the Node select TSL 3.1 or TSL 5 and TCP or UDP. The receiver uses the configured screen and display identifiers to map each message to a window.
Network Requirements
-
Connection Model: Outbound from hi
-
Multicast / Unicast: Unicast only
-
VLAN / IGMP: No multicast configuration is required.
-
Bandwidth: Control traffic only.
-
IP Version: IPv4 (IPv6 support varies by vendor - verify before relying on it)
-
Firewall: Allow outbound traffic from hi to the TSL receiver on Port 8901, using the transport that the Node selects (TCP or UDP).

Device Coverage
Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies devices that use the same protocol or connection method but have not been tested with hi. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.
Riedel MediorNet TDM, Ross Video Ultrix, and Imagine Communications SNP also have device-specific integration pages.

Known Limitations
-
Tally-state interpretation depends on the receiving device implementation.
-
TSL UMD v3.1 addresses displays
0to126, carries a fixed 16-character label, and has four tally bits and a brightness field per display. TSL UMD v5.0 addresses a screen and a display with 16-bit indexes (65535is reserved as a broadcast value) and carries variable-length text with separate left, text, and right tally indications. Neither version acknowledges messages, so hi cannot confirm delivery. -
If the wrong Multiviewer window updates, verify the Screen ID and Starting Display ID on both systems.
What's Not Supported
-
Layout authoring, layout recall, routing, and on-screen graphic design.
