NTP Technology Penta Audio Console Integration Configuration
Caution
Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Configuration Overview
A Penta system connects to hi as one audio router Node through Pro-Bel SW-P-08. hi controls one Level and one Matrix, and it creates the Ports from the counts that you enter when you create the Node.

Penta Audio Routing |
One audio matrix with Input Count Sources and Output Count Destinations, and their Crosspoints. |
hi must route Penta audio signals. |
Caution
Input Count and Output Count are available only when you create the Node. Enter the matrix dimensions of the Penta before you create it.
Before You Begin
-
Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes. See Manage Nodes.
-
Confirm the license and minimum hi version in Required Configuration.
-
Confirm with NTP Technology how to enable the SW-P-08 interface on the Penta system, which Port it uses, and how its Level and Matrix are numbered. NTP documents SW-P-08 support for the PENTA 720 and PENTA 721.
-
Confirm the network access in Network Requirements.
Configure Penta Audio Routing
Device Configuration
-
Enable the SW-P-08 interface of the Penta system as NTP Technology describes.
-
Record the device address, the SW-P-08 Port, the Level, the Matrix, and the number of Sources and Destinations. Ensure that the hi server can reach the control interface.
hi Configuration
-
Add the Penta Audio Console integration (manufacturer NTP Technology) in Inventory.
-
Enter the device address and the SW-P-08 Port. hi defaults to
10006and uses one connection. -
Keep Signal Type at
Audio. -
Enter Level and Matrix. hi numbers both from
0. -
Enter Input Count and Output Count as the matrix dimensions of the Penta.
-
Keep Keep Alive Enabled at
Yesunless the Penta must not receive periodic interrogate requests. -
Create the Node.
-
After the Node is created, set the name settings in the Startup and Source & Destination Names groups, and use Refresh Labels to read the names. See Router Properties.

Common Checks
|
Symptom |
Check |
|---|---|
|
The Node does not connect. |
Confirm that the SW-P-08 interface is enabled and that its Port is reachable from hi. |
|
Routes land on the wrong Level or Matrix. |
Confirm that Level and Matrix are zero based in hi. |
|
Sources or Destinations are missing. |
Confirm the Input Count and Output Count that were entered when the Node was created. |
Verify the Configuration
Wait for the Node to report a connected state. Compare the matrix dimensions and Crosspoints in hi with the Penta configuration. Route a noncritical Destination from hi and confirm that the Crosspoint state returns to hi. Change the same route on the Penta and confirm that hi shows the change.
