Operation(CCA)

This chapter describes the general operation of the Commentary Control App on the Desktop SmartPanel 1216HL with the attached Commentary Headset Adapter.

Prerequisites:

  • A CCA license (Commentary Control App) must be installed to be able to use this app.

    • If the Desktop SmartPanel is not integrated into an Artist configuration, the app can be enabled…

    • If the Desktop SmartPanel is connected to an Artist configuration:

      • 'CCA is controlled via LUI' appears in the Settings Menu (Applications > Commentary) and the app cannot be launched.

      • If the port type 'Single/Dual Commentator Mode' is selected for the DSP-1216HL in the Director configuration, the app launches automatically, and in the SmartPanels Web Interface appears the Commentary tab.

      • If an incorrect port type is selected in the Director configuration, the app will not start, and the Commentary tab will not be available in the Web Interface.

When the Commentary Control app is running, the Info Display does not show the usual content, as it does when the SmartPanel is used in Intercom mode running along with other applications. Since the Commentary Control app cannot run alongside other apps, you cannot switch to other apps or keybanks. Furthermore, the Settings menu is hidden because it is not relevant to the Commentator's operation. However, it can be opened by long-pressing the Info Display for more than 3 seconds.

The general operation is the same regardless of whether the Desktop SmarPanel is used in a configuration with one or two commentators. However, there are some differences (such as the number and position of available keys), which are listed in the table below.

In Dual Commentator mode, the 'ON AIR' and 'MUTE' positions can be swapped between the upper row and lower row. This setting applies to both commentators and can be configured in the Web Interface on the Commentary tab: General Settings > Lower Row Key.
