Configure UMD Labels
Overview
Configure the text Source and Tally assignments sent to a Multiviewer UMD.
Prerequisites
-
Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes.
-
Open a Node with the UMD capability and select UMD Settings.
-
Identify the intended Screen Id, Display Id, text Source, and Tally assignments.
Multiviewer Nodes
Multiviewer Nodes collect and calculate Tally/label information for downstream UMD displays. The UMD Settings tab appears on Nodes that have the UMD capability.
Multiviewer templates include a Screen / Display ID. hi uses this identifier to keep generated screen indexes unique when you add multiple Multiviewer Nodes.
See the illustrated example.
UMD Entry List
Each UMD entry is identified by its UMD Address and displays:
-
Text source icon and name (Port name for Signal Path, parameter name for parameter, or "Static Text")
-
Source details including Port location and text Source type
-
Tally indicators showing assigned Tallies with color-coded active/inactive state
-
Live text preview showing the current label being sent to the Multiviewer
Use the Signal Path button on an entry to open the Signal Path view for the followed Port. Use Copy UMD to duplicate an entry with auto-iterated Port selection. Use Configure UMD Label to configure an entry.
Configuring a UMD Entry
-
In UMD Settings, select Configure UMD Label on the entry to open its configuration dialog.
-
Set the intended Screen Id and Display Id, text Source, and Tally assignments.
-
Select Save.
Each entry supports three text Source modes:
-
from signal path - dynamically calculates the label by tracing signal origin through wiring and topology. Select the Source Port using the Port Picker.
-
from parameter - uses the current value of a pinned parameter as the label text. Select a pinned parameter from the dropdown.
-
static text - sends a fixed text string, disabling dynamic calculation.
See the illustrated example.
Port Picker Dialog
When selecting a Port for a UMD entry, the Port Picker dialog opens in By Node view. Browse or search the device Nodes on the left, then browse or search their Ports on the right. The format selector narrows the Port list when required.
See the illustrated example.
Tally Assignment
Each UMD entry can have Tallies assigned. The Tally assignment section shows the protocol-specific Tally IDs mapped to hi Tallies, with red/green color indicators reflecting the live Tally state.
Verify the Result
Confirm the saved entry has the intended Screen Id and Display Id. Check its live text and Tally indicators and the receiving display; a configured entry alone does not confirm delivery.
Next Steps
Use View and Edit Topology to inspect a followed Signal Path.
