Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Minimum hi Version: v2.6.1
Overview
The Panasonic® KAIROS™ integration receives Tally and Source names through Ember+, and it writes dynamic Source labels to KAIROS Inputs. It also exposes supported Parameters and Parametric Dynamic Labels.
Network Requirements
-
Connection Model: Outbound from hi
-
Multicast / Unicast: Unicast only
-
Bandwidth: Control traffic only.
-
IP Version: IPv4 (IPv6 support varies by vendor - verify before relying on it)
-
Firewall: Allow outbound TCP connections from hi to KAIROS on port 9000. No callback to hi is used.

Operator Workflow
-
UI Surface in hi: Control Panel, Tally, Dynamic Labels, Parameters, and Parametric Dynamic Labels
-
Capabilities: Tally, dynamic Source labels, Ember+ Parameter Control, and Parametric Dynamic Labels
-
Routing Semantics: The integration does not expose KAIROS AUX buses or a general Routing Matrix surface.
-
Tally / UMD Relationship: Tally state is sourced from the switcher's own Tally engine; hi reflects the switcher's Tally state into the wider system.
-
Notes for Operators Familiar with the Vendor's Own Tooling: Configure scenes, layers, AUX buses, macros, and production logic in the vendor tooling. hi exposes only the Ember+ data and parameters provided to the integration.

Exposed Operation and Scope |
|---|---|---|
|
Tally Systems |
Read-only updates |
Receive the six KAIROS Tally systems as Kairos Tally Red, Kairos Tally Green, Kairos Tally Yellow, Kairos Tally Blue, Kairos Tally Magenta, and Kairos Tally Cyan. |
|
Sources |
Read-only updates |
Read KAIROS Inputs, Clip Players, and RAM Recorders as hi Sources, with their names and Tally. |
|
Dynamic Source Labels |
Write-only output |
Write the Source label that hi calculates to the KAIROS Source name parameter of each Input. Clip Player and RAM Recorder names are read-only. |
|
Ember+ Parameters |
Per-parameter access |
Read exposed Parameters; write only Parameters whose Ember+ access metadata permits writes. |
|
Parametric Dynamic Labels |
Reads mapped text values |
Map supported text Parameters to hi labels; any Parameter write remains subject to its Ember+ access mode. |
Device Coverage
Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies compatibility candidates that use the same protocol or connection method. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.

Known Limitations
-
hi reads Sources only from the
Device/Mixer/Inputs,Device/Mixer/ClipPlayers, andDevice/Mixer/RamRecordersnodes of the Ember+ tree. Other Sources do not appear. -
A Source without a
nameparameter in the Ember+ tree cannot receive Dynamic Labels from hi. -
KAIROS firmware 1.8.2 includes Ember+ naming and mapping-table fixes. Use firmware appropriate to the exact KAIROS Core model.
-
hi sends an Ember+ keep-alive request every 5 seconds, and it disconnects when the provider does not answer within 10 seconds. hi requires the provider to answer keep-alive requests.
What's Not Supported
-
Output Ports, AUX, and general switcher routing, including Crosspoint control.
-
Macro and shotbox authoring, ME setup, panel calibration, and engineering configuration.
-
Firmware updates and device configuration backup.
-
Ember+ Functions, including Qualified Functions, and function invocation. The Ember+ specification defines them from Glow 2.20, and hi never sends an Invoke command.
-
Ember+ Templates, including Qualified Templates, and template references. The specification defines them from Glow 2.40. hi requests all fields of each element, and it does not resolve template references.
-
KAIROS TallyTrigger output, which sends Tally to external devices such as GPIO boxes and Panasonic cameras by IP address and Port. hi receives Tally through the Ember+ provider only.
-
Scene and layer transitions, AUX source selection, macro and snapshot recall, player transport, Multiviewer presets, and audio mute. KAIROS provides them through its Simple Control and REST interfaces, which hi does not use.
