Caution

Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Minimum hi Version: v2.0.0

Overview

The Ross Video® Carbonite™ integration receives Tally states and UMD labels through TSL UMD v3.1 or v5.0.

Network Requirements

  • Connection Model: Inbound to hi

  • Multicast / Unicast: Unicast only

  • Bandwidth: Control traffic only.

  • IP Version: IPv4 (IPv6 support varies by vendor - verify before relying on it)

  • Firewall: Allow inbound TCP or UDP to hi on port 31000 by default.

Information

Send the switcher's TSL UMD output to the commissioned hi server address and this integration's listener Port. The default is 31000, and the permitted range is 31000 to 31999. If you change it, update the switcher's target and the firewall rule.

Notes

TSL UMD Protocol v3.1 / v5.0

Inbound Tally states and UMD labels over TCP or UDP

Published TSL protocol implemented by the hi integration

Operator Workflow

  • UI Surface in hi: Tally and UMD

  • Capabilities: Inbound TSL Tally and UMD label data

  • Routing Semantics: The integration does not expose switcher routing, Crosspoint control, or outbound Dynamic Labels.

  • Tally / UMD Relationship: Tally and UMD labels are core to this integration - hi receives the switcher's TSL UMD frames and reflects its Tally states and labels across hi panels and Multiviewers.

  • Notes for Operators Familiar with the Vendor's Own Tooling: Configure production switching and TSL output in the vendor tooling; use hi as the TSL listener.

Device Coverage

Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies compatibility candidates that use the same protocol or connection method. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.

This integration supports the Ross Video Carbonite range.

Tested With

  • Ross Video Carbonite Series

Supported Product Range

  • Ross Video Carbonite Black

  • Ross Video Carbonite Ultra

  • Ross Video Carbonite Ultra 60

  • Ross Video Carbonite Ultra Solo

  • Ross Video Carbonite HyperMax

  • Ross Video Ultrix Carbonite

Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified)

  • Other production switchers that send TSL 3.1 or TSL 5.0 Tally and labels to a TSL listener. Confirm the TSL version, transport, and Tally mapping of the exact switcher.

Known Limitations

  • Inbound TSL only; the hi system acts as a TSL listener.

  • With TSL 3.1, the Carbonite, Carbonite Black, and Carbonite Ultra send labels of up to 16 characters and two tallies: Tally 1 is preview and Tally 2 is program. Tallies 3 and 4 are always off.

  • On these switchers, ID 0 carries black, background, or no source, and input 1 uses ID 1. With the default TSL Address Offset of 1, input 1 becomes hi Port 2.

  • Show Bus Name and Show UMD ID add text to each label, and hi uses the received text as the Port name.

What's Not Supported

  • Switcher routing, Crosspoint control, outbound Dynamic Labels, macro authoring, and ME setup.

  • Firmware updates, device configuration backup, panel calibration, and engineering configuration.
