Panasonic KAIROS Series Integration Configuration

Panasonic KAIROS Series Integration Configuration

Caution

Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Configuration Overview

KAIROS connects to hi through its Ember+ provider. hi reads the KAIROS Sources and their Tally state, and it can write Source names back to KAIROS as Dynamic Labels.

Configuration

What hi Sees

Use When

Tally and Labels

The KAIROS Inputs, Clip Players, and RAM Recorders as Sources, with the six KAIROS Tally systems.

hi must show the on-air state of KAIROS Sources, or send Source names to KAIROS.

Before You Begin

  • Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes. See Manage Nodes.

  • Confirm the license and minimum hi version in Required Configuration.

  • In Kairos Creator, open Settings > Protocol Settings, enable Ember, and record its Port. hi defaults to 9000.

  • Confirm the network access in Network Requirements.

  • Record the KAIROS Ember+ endpoint and the exposed tree paths.

Configure Tally and Labels

Device Configuration

  1. In Kairos Creator, open Settings > Protocol Settings, enable Ember, and record its Port. Confirm that the Ember+ tree publishes the Device/Mixer/Inputs, Device/Mixer/ClipPlayers, and Device/Mixer/RamRecorders nodes, each with a name and a tally parameter for every Source.

  2. Assign the KAIROS Tally systems to the Aux-Buses or outputs in KAIROS before you map them in hi. KAIROS provides six Tally systems. By default, Red is On-Air and Green is Preview; Yellow, Blue, Magenta, and Cyan are not used. In Kairos Creator, open Config > Aux and set the Tally of each Aux-Bus from the Aux-Bus menu, the right-click menu of the Aux-Bus, or the Tally root button in Parameter View. The shortcuts Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+6 select Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, Magenta, and Cyan, and Ctrl+0 removes the Tally.

  3. Name the KAIROS Sources that hi must show. In Kairos Creator, open Config > Inputs and rename an Input from the Input menu, from its right-click menu, or with F2. The Inputs list also shows the current Tally of each Input, which you can compare with hi.

hi Configuration

  1. Add the KAIROS Series integration (manufacturer Panasonic) in Inventory.

  2. Enter the KAIROS address and the Ember+ Port. hi defaults to 9000.

  3. Create the Node and wait for hi to read the Sources.

  4. Open the Tallies tab and map each KAIROS Tally, for example Kairos Tally Red, to a hi Tally.

  5. To send Source names to KAIROS, complete the Dynamic Labels tab. See Dynamic Label Setup.

Common Checks

Symptom

Check

The Node does not connect.

Confirm that the Ember+ provider is enabled on the KAIROS Core and that its Port is reachable.

No Sources appear.

Confirm that the Ember+ tree publishes the Inputs, Clip Players, and RAM Recorders nodes.

A Tally never changes.

Confirm that the KAIROS Tally system is assigned to an Aux-Bus or output, and that it is mapped on the Tallies tab.

A label from hi does not appear on KAIROS.

Confirm that the Source is a KAIROS Input and has a name parameter in the Ember+ tree.

Verify the Configuration

Take a Source to air on KAIROS and confirm that the mapped hi Tally follows. When Dynamic Labels are configured, change the label of a KAIROS Input in hi and confirm that its name updates in KAIROS.
