Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Minimum hi Version: v2.2.0
Overview
Grass Valley® Densité™ cards and modules integrate through the Densité REST API on an AppServer. hi discovers cards, reads status, controls parameters, and polls for session updates.
Network Requirements
-
Connection Model: hi initiates HTTP requests to the AppServer.
-
Multicast / Unicast: Unicast only.
-
VLAN / IGMP: No multicast configuration is required.
-
Bandwidth: Control traffic only.
-
IP Version: IPv4.
-
Firewall: Allow outbound HTTP from hi to the Densité AppServer on TCP 5955.

Device Coverage
Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies devices that use the same protocol or connection method but have not been tested with hi. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.
This integration supports the Grass Valley Densité range.
Tested With
-
Grass Valley iControl Application Server
Supported Product Range
-
Grass Valley Densité 3 frames
-
Grass Valley Densité 3+ frames
-
Grass Valley Densité cards installed in those frames, for example XVP-3901, HCO-3901, and FRS-3901. The cards in a frame appear only if the AppServer exposes them.
Known Limitations
-
The integration exposes only parameters and status returned by the card's AppServer.
-
The AppServer delivers updates through a session and closes the session when its update buffer is not read for about 40 seconds. A network interruption longer than that requires a new session, so expect a resynchronization after a long outage.
-
hi checks the AppServer connection every 10 seconds. A failed check marks the Node as disconnected.
-
hi compares the card list of the AppServer with its own list every 60 seconds. When a card is added, removed, or changed, hi reinitializes the Node.
-
hi opens one update session for each frame that the AppServer reports.
-
Login Name and Password are in the Authentication group. They are available when you create the Node and afterward.
What's Not Supported
-
Direct card communication; the integration requires an AppServer.
-
Firmware updates, AppServer administration, and base hardware provisioning.
-
Reading or setting labels on the AppServer.
