Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Minimum hi Version: v2.2.0
Overview
hi controls Imagine Communications® devices using CCS-P over TCP or UDP. The integration reads and writes parameters, and monitors status through the published information tree.
Network Requirements
-
Connection Model: hi initiates the selected TCP or UDP exchange.
-
Multicast / Unicast: Unicast TCP or UDP.
-
VLAN / IGMP: No multicast configuration is required.
-
Bandwidth: Control traffic only.
-
IP Version: IPv4.
-
Firewall: Allow traffic from hi to the configured CCS-P Port of the device: UDP Port 4050 (the hi default) or, with TCP, the TCP Port of the device's CCS-P server (TCP 4517 on the SNP and the Platinum IP3 PX-RES). With UDP, also allow inbound UDP from the device to Port 4000 on the hi server, because hi receives CCS-P messages on that local Port.

Access |
Exposed Operation and Scope |
|---|---|---|

Parameter Write (Assign) |
Per-parameter access |
Write parameters the CCS-P provider exposes as writable; parameters marked non-writable are read-only in hi. |

Parameter Query |
Read-only |
Query published values. |
|
Parameter Tables |
Per-parameter access |
Read and write the integer, string, and enumeration cells of parameter tables that the device publishes. |
|
Response and Status |
Read-only events |
Receive parameter responses and device-status updates. |
Device Coverage
Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies devices that use the same protocol or connection method but have not been tested with hi. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.

Known Limitations
-
Available parameters and functions depend on the CCS-P tree exposed by the connected device.
-
The default Port
4050is the hi default for UDP. The SNP and the Platinum IP3 PX-RES serve CCS-P on UDP Port4050and TCP Port4517, so a device that you control over TCP can need a different Port. Confirm the CCS-P Port of EPIC MV and Platinum SX Pro devices with Imagine Communications. -
The Platinum IP3 PX-RES serves CCS-P on UDP 4050 and TCP 4517, with a CCSP TCP ID server on TCP 4518 and a CCSP policy server on TCP 943. hi uses only the server Port that matches the selected transport.
-
The SNP setting Disable CCSP Port disables CCS-P port access to the SNP. Imagine Communications provides it for Magellan control panels that connect over TCP/IP. Keep it cleared for hi.
-
A CCS-P device sends a keep-alive every 15 to 20 seconds. With UDP, hi expects a keep-alive from the device within 25 seconds, then requests one and waits another 25 seconds before it treats the device as disconnected. With TCP, hi sends a keep-alive every 25 seconds.
-
When hi connects, it loads the top four levels of the CCS-P tree and the enumeration types that the device publishes. hi loads deeper levels when you open them in the Parameter Browser.
-
Network Transport defaults to
UDP. It is available when you create the Node and afterward.
What's Not Supported
-
Firmware updates and low-level device configuration - use the vendor's own management tool.
-
Stream-format authoring or essence creation - hi controls routing/parameter surfaces, not media production.
-
CCS-P methods and function invocation, relative adjustments (Adjust and AdjustCoarse), SetDefault, and the static, dynamic, method, and identifier queries. The protocol defines them, and hi uses only Query and Assign for Parameters.
-
CCS-P alarms, alarm tables, and device alarm state.
-
CCS-P broadcast UDP and direct serial connections. hi uses only point-to-point UDP or a TCP connection to one device address.
-
CCS-P flow control. hi does not ask a device to slow its unsolicited updates.
