Blackmagic Design ATEM Series Integration Configuration
Caution
Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Configuration Overview
The ATEM integration uses a native UDP session for Tally and control. Dynamic Source labels are written over the native session. An optional HTTP/2 gRPC endpoint receives an additional copy. Configure the native session first.

Configuration |
What hi Sees |
Use When |
|---|---|---|
|
Native ATEM Session |
Tally and topology from the switcher, and Source labels from hi. |
Always. Configure this first. |
|
Additional gRPC Label Destination |
hi also sends Source labels to a separately commissioned gRPC service. |
Another system must receive the labels through gRPC. |
Caution
The gRPC label destination needs a separately commissioned service with no default Port. Contact Riedel Customer Success before you plan this configuration.
Before You Begin
-
Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes. See Manage Nodes.
-
Confirm the license in Required Configuration.
-
Use ATEM Software Control for comparison of the switcher state.
-
Record the IP address or hostname of the ATEM switcher.
-
When another system must receive Source labels through gRPC, get the full URI of the gRPC label service.
-
Confirm the network access in Network Requirements.
Configure Native ATEM Session
Use this configuration for Tally, topology readback, and dynamic Source labels.
Device Configuration
-
Connect the switcher to the network and confirm its IP address. To set the address from a computer, connect the switcher directly over USB and use the ATEM Setup Utility. ATEM Constellation switchers default to DHCP. To set a fixed address on a Constellation front panel, press Menu, open Settings, select IP Address in the network section, set each value with the knob and Set, and save with the update icon. Set the gateway and subnet the same way.
-
Confirm that UDP port
9910is reachable from hi.
hi Configuration
-
Add the ATEM Series integration in Inventory.
-
Enter the switcher address and the ATEM Port,
9910by default. -
Create the Node and wait for the topology and Tally to load.
-
Assign the received Tally to hi Tally Sources. See Manage Tally.
Configure an Additional Label Destination
Use this configuration after the native session works, when another system must receive the Source labels through gRPC. hi writes labels to the switcher without it.
Device Configuration
-
Commission the gRPC label service and record its full URI.
hi Configuration
-
Open the Node.
-
Enter the full URI of the gRPC service as the dynamic-label endpoint.
-
Complete the Dynamic Labels tab. See Dynamic Label Setup.
Common Checks
|
Symptom |
Check |
|---|---|
|
Tally works but labels do not update on the switcher. |
Confirm that the native session is connected. For the gRPC destination, check its URI and network path separately. |
|
Nothing loads from the switcher. |
Confirm that UDP port |
Verify the Configuration
Compare the Tally with ATEM Software Control. Change a label in hi and confirm that the switcher shows it. When the gRPC destination is configured, change a label in hi and confirm that the service receives it.
