Grass Valley K-Frame Series Integration Configuration

Grass Valley K-Frame Series Integration Configuration

Caution

Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Configuration Overview

The K-Frame integration receives Tally and Source labels over one GV Ethernet Tally connection that hi opens to the frame. hi can also send Source names when Source Name Control is enabled. The frame accepts the connection only from IP addresses that are registered in its menu.

Configuration

What hi Sees

Use When

Tally and Source Labels

Program, preview, key, and bus Tally, plus Source labels. Optional Source-name writes when enabled.

Always. This is the only configuration.

Caution

Register the hi server address on the frame before you create the Node. The frame rejects unregistered addresses, and hi receives no Tally.

Before You Begin

  • Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes. See Manage Nodes.

  • Confirm the license in Required Configuration.

  • Confirm the network access in Network Requirements.

  • Know the IP address that the hi server uses to reach the frame.

  • Record the GV Ethernet Tally endpoint and the Source mapping.

Configure Receive Tally and Labels

Device Configuration

  1. On the K-Frame menu, open Eng Setup and then Ports & Devices.

  2. Open the Tally Ports tab.

  3. Enter the IP address of the hi server and enable the connection. Save the entry.

  4. To let hi write Source names, set Source Name Control to Enabled in the Tally Ports tab. The frame processes name packets only when this setting is enabled.

  5. Note the Ethernet Tally Port. The default is 2012.

hi Configuration

  1. Add the K-Frame Series integration in Inventory.

  2. Enter the frame address and the Ethernet Tally Port.

  3. Create the Node and wait for it to initialize.

  4. Assign the received Tally to hi Tally Sources. See Manage Tally.

  5. To send Source names, enable Source Name Control on the frame and complete Dynamic Label Setup.

Common Checks

Symptom

Check

The Node does not receive Tally.

Confirm that the hi server address is registered and enabled in Tally Ports, and that the Port matches the frame.

The connection starts and then drops.

Confirm that the hi server address is still registered and enabled in Tally Ports, and that no network device closes the TCP connection between the hi server and the frame.

The Node does not connect to the frame.

Confirm the network path from the hi server to the frame and the frame address in the Node.

Tally appears on the wrong hi Sources.

Confirm the Source mapping between the switcher Sources and the hi Tally Sources.

Verify the Configuration

Compare program, preview, key, and bus Tally in hi with the switcher. Change a Source selection on the switcher and confirm that the hi Tally follows. Confirm that the Dynamic Labels from the switcher appear in hi.
