Imagine Communications CCS-P Parameter Controllable Device Integration Configuration
Caution
Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Configuration Overview
A CCS-P device connects to hi as one Parameter Control Node over UDP or TCP. The transport in hi and the Port must match the CCS-P server of the device, because Imagine devices can use a different Port for each transport.
|
Configuration |
What hi Sees |
Use When |
|---|---|---|
|
CCS-P over UDP |
The CCS-P parameter tree of the device. hi expects keep-alives from the device. |
The device serves CCS-P over UDP. This is the hi default. |
|
CCS-P over TCP |
The CCS-P parameter tree of the device. hi sends keep-alives to the device. |
The device serves CCS-P over TCP. |
Caution
With UDP, hi receives CCS-P messages on local UDP Port 4000 of the hi server. A firewall that blocks this Port prevents the Node from receiving answers.
Before You Begin
-
Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes. See Manage Nodes.
-
Confirm the license and minimum hi version in Required Configuration.
-
Obtain the documentation of the Imagine Communications device that lists its CCS-P server Ports.
-
Confirm the network access in Network Requirements.
Configure CCS-P Over UDP
Use this configuration when the device serves CCS-P over UDP.
Device Configuration
-
Confirm that the CCS-P server of the device is enabled. On an SNP, open Configure > Element, select the System tab, and in the Security section clear Disable CCSP Port. For other devices, confirm the setup steps with Imagine Communications.
-
Record the UDP Port of the CCS-P server. The Platinum IP3 PX-RES and the SNP use UDP Port
4050.
hi Configuration
-
Add the CCS-P Parameter Controllable Device integration, manufacturer Imagine Communications, in Inventory.
-
Enter the device address and the UDP Port. hi pre-fills
4050. -
In the Connection Settings group, keep Network Transport at
UDP. -
Create the Node. hi loads the top four levels of the CCS-P tree.
-
In the Parameter Browser, open the branches that you need, select the parameters that hi must monitor, and select Pin Selected.
Configure CCS-P Over TCP
Use this configuration when the device serves CCS-P over TCP.
Device Configuration
-
Confirm that the CCS-P server of the device is enabled. On an SNP, open Configure > Element, select the System tab, and in the Security section clear Disable CCSP Port. For other devices, confirm the setup steps with Imagine Communications.
-
Record the TCP Port of the CCS-P server. The Platinum IP3 PX-RES and the SNP use TCP Port
4517.
hi Configuration
-
Add the CCS-P Parameter Controllable Device integration, manufacturer Imagine Communications, in Inventory.
-
Enter the device address and the TCP Port. hi pre-fills
4050, so replace it with the TCP Port of the device. -
In the Connection Settings group, set Network Transport to
TCP. -
Create the Node. hi loads the top four levels of the CCS-P tree.
-
In the Parameter Browser, open the branches that you need, select the parameters that hi must monitor, and select Pin Selected.

Common Checks
|
Symptom |
Check |
|---|---|
|
The Node does not connect over TCP. |
Confirm that the Port is the TCP Port of the CCS-P server, not the UDP Port. |
|
The Node over UDP shows as disconnected after about 50 seconds. |
hi received no keep-alive from the device. Confirm that UDP Port |
|
The parameter tree is incomplete. |
Open the branch in the Parameter Browser so that hi loads the deeper levels. |
Verify the Configuration
Confirm that the Node reports a connected state and that the Parameter Browser shows the CCS-P tree. Pin a known parameter, change it on the device, and confirm that hi shows the new value. Then change a safe parameter from hi and confirm that the device shows the same value.
