Riedel hiDot Series Integration Configuration
Caution
Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Configuration Overview
A hiDot connects to hi as one Node. hi connects to the hiDot on TCP Port 5015. The workflow mode version that you select when you create the Node decides how hi drives the hiDot.
|
Configuration |
What hi Sees |
Use When |
|---|---|---|
|
V2 Workflow Mode |
A hiDot Node that hi drives in V2 workflow mode. |
New installations. This is the default. |
|
V1 Workflow Mode |
A hiDot Node that hi drives in V1 workflow mode. |
The system is licensed for V1 workflow mode and the installation already uses it. |
Caution
hi applies hi workflow mode version only when it creates the Node. To change the mode, create the Node again.
Before You Begin
-
Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes. See Manage Nodes.
-
Confirm the licenses, the hiUser session, and the minimum hi version in Required Configuration.
-
Use a workstation with a web browser on the same subnet as the hiDot for the device-side steps.
-
Confirm the network access in Network Requirements.
-
The hiDot connection has no authentication. Keep the hiDot on a control network.
Configure V2 Workflow Mode
Use this configuration for every new hiDot.
Device Configuration
-
Install and power the hiDot as described in Hardware Installation and Commissioning, and connect it to the control network.
-
Set a unique production IP address with the procedure in Hardware Network Configuration. The hiDot does not need the address of the hi server, because hi connects to the hiDot. The factory default address is listed on that page, and the web interface uses Port
5015. Commission one unconfigured unit at a time, because units can share the default address. -
Record the IP address of the hiDot.
hi Configuration
-
Add the hiDot Series integration (manufacturer hi human interface) in Inventory.
-
Enter the IP address of the hiDot.
-
If hi workflow mode version appears in the Options group, keep
V2. -
Create the Node. hi connects to the hiDot on Port
5015. -
Open the hiDot editor for the Node, and configure the workflow or custom mode content.
Configure V1 Workflow Mode
Use this configuration only when the system is licensed for V1 workflow mode and the installation already uses it.
Device Configuration
-
Complete the device steps in Configure V2 Workflow Mode. The device-side network setup is the same.
hi Configuration
-
Add the hiDot Series integration in Inventory, and enter the IP address of the hiDot.
-
In the Options group, set hi workflow mode version to
V1. When the setting does not appear, the system is not licensed for V1 workflow mode, and hi uses V2. -
Create the Node, and configure its content in the hiDot editor.

Common Checks
|
Symptom |
Check |
|---|---|
|
The Node does not connect. |
Confirm the IP address of the hiDot, and confirm that the hi system can reach TCP Port |
|
The hiDot cannot be found on its default address. |
Confirm that the workstation is on the same subnet and that no firewall blocks Port |
|
hi workflow mode version is not shown. |
The system is not licensed for V1 workflow mode. hi creates the Node in V2 workflow mode. |
Verify the Configuration
Assign one Parameter or one noncritical routing entry in the hiDot editor. Operate the hiDot and confirm that hi shows the change. Then change the value in hi and confirm that the hiDot display updates.
