Imagine Communications LRC Compatible Router
Production
Recommended for normal production use.
Caution
Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Minimum hi Version: v2.8.0
Information
hi 2.8.0 reintroduced LRC for installations where LRC+ does not perform as expected with some devices. Use LRC+ wherever possible.
Overview
The Imagine Communications® LRC integration reads Source and Destination counts and names, synchronizes Crosspoint state, and sets routes over TCP.
Network Requirements
-
Allow outbound TCP from hi to the LRC controller on Port
52116by default. -
No callback or inbound connection to hi is used.
-
Keep the plaintext control connection on a trusted management network.

Operator Workflow
-

-
Capabilities: Source/Destination discovery and names, Crosspoint synchronization, and Crosspoint setting
-
Routing Semantics: The configured router Sources and Destinations appear in hi routing workflows.
-
Notes for Operators Familiar with the Vendor's Own Tooling: Use vendor tooling for salvos, locks, protection, presets, engineering configuration, and firmware management.

Device Coverage
Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies compatibility candidates that use the same protocol or connection method. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.
Tested With
-
Imagine Communications Platinum IP3
-
Imagine Communications Magellan SDNO
Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified)
-
Imagine Communications routing systems that expose the supported LRC control surface.
-
Other Imagine Platinum frames that host LRC.
Known Limitations
-
LRC Plus channel/level routing is documented separately on the LRC Plus integration page.
-
LRC reports status in an event-driven way. Do not poll continuously, because extra updates slow switch requests and status delivery. Use a closed network dedicated to router control where possible.
-
LRC protocol version 1.1 has no Source disconnect command.
-
Platinum and Magellan SDNO systems provide the LRC interface. Availability of the LRC socket interface depends on the device, so confirm the interface on your product before commissioning.
-
hi creates the first Input Count and Output Count Ports with the Signal Type chosen at creation. For a Port that the router reports above these counts, hi sets the format from the channel name:
Level 0orVideogives a video Port,Level 1orAudiogives an audio Port,Level 2orDatagives a data Port, and any other name gives a video Port. hi does not change the format of existing Ports, and it shows a Crosspoint only when the Source and Destination formats match. -
hi connects to one controller address and does not fail over to a second controller.
-
Validate the counts, names, and routing with the installed firmware during commissioning.
What's Not Supported
-
Salvos, locks, protection, presets, disconnect commands, and raw-message actions.
-
Firmware updates and engineering-level configuration remain in the vendor tooling.
-
Crosspoint error status (XPOINTERR), which only Magellan SDNO provides.
-
Crosspoint buffer control (XBUFFER) and protocol version queries (PROTOCOL).
