Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Minimum hi Version: v2.5.0

Overview

The Ross Video® Ultrix™ integration uses Pro-Bel SW-P-08 to read Source and Destination names, monitor routing state, and switch Crosspoints. It also supports optional audio-output generation and disconnect mapping.

hi connects to an Ultrix in one of three routing modes: Embedded Routing, Flat Matrix, or 1+16 Level. Each mode requires a matching Ultrix database configuration and hi Node configuration.

See Ross Video Ultrix Router Integration Configuration for the Ultrix database and hi Node configuration of each mode.

Network Requirements

  • Connection Model: Outbound from hi

  • Multicast / Unicast: Unicast only

  • Bandwidth: Control traffic only.

  • IP Version: IPv4

  • Firewall: Allow outbound TCP from hi to the Ultrix SW-P-08 service; the Ultrix Router Node defaults to 8910, and the Pro-Bel SW-P-08 Compatible Router Node defaults to 2008, so set it to 8910 for the Ultrix. No inbound connection to hi is required.

Operator Workflow

  • UI Surface in hi: Routing Matrix, Inventory, and Topology

  • Router Scope: Configured video and audio levels

  • Routing Semantics: Sources and Destinations appear on the configured matrix levels. Operators can switch routes and monitor Crosspoint state.

  • Notes for Operators Familiar with the Vendor's Own Tooling: Use Ross DashBoard for protection, salvos, engineering configuration, and firmware management.

Device Coverage

Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies compatibility candidates that use the same protocol or connection method. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.

This integration supports the Ross Video Ultrix range.

Tested With

  • Ross Video Ultrix

Supported Product Range

  • Ross Video ULTRIX-FR1

  • Ross Video ULTRIX-FR2

  • Ross Video ULTRIX-FR5

  • Ross Video ULTRIX-FR12

Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified)

  • Ultrix firmware versions and database configurations that have not been tested, where the SW-P-08 service exposes the supported routing and label fields.

Known Limitations

  • Verify the exact Ultrix firmware and SW-P-08 configuration before deployment.

  • Flat Matrix mode is not compatible with Ross BCS tie-line management. Use it only when the Ultrix system does not hand the SW-P-08 interface to a Ross BCS system.

  • The service defaults on this page apply to the ULTRIX-FR1, FR2, FR5, and FR12 frames.

  • The 1+16 Level mode requires a strict Ultrix database scheme. Check the Port names after the Node initializes, and rename any Port that does not read correctly.

What's Not Supported

  • Protection, UMD, tie-line, and salvo operations.

  • Engineering-level configuration (level naming, port labels, redundancy setup) - use the vendor's native router-control tool.

  • Firmware updates - use the vendor's native update utility.

  • Hardware diagnostics and SFP-level health - surfaced by the device's own management plane, not this integration.
