AJA KUMO Compatible Router
Production
Recommended for normal production use.
Caution
Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Minimum hi Version: v2.7.6
Overview
The AJA® KUMO™ integration uses the HTTP /config interface. It discovers the matrix, reads and writes labels, monitors Crosspoints, and sets routes.
Network Requirements
-
Allow outbound HTTP from hi to the KUMO router on Port
80by default. -
No callback or inbound connection to hi is used.
-
Keep the unauthenticated HTTP interface on a trusted management network.

Operator Workflow
-
UI Surface in hi: Routing Matrix and Inventory
-
Layers Controlled: Video routing
-
Routing Semantics: hi builds Sources and Destinations from the counts reported by the router.
-
Notes for Operators Familiar with the Vendor's Own Tooling: Use the KUMO web interface for device and network configuration. Use hi for labels, routing state, and Crosspoint changes.

Device Coverage
Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies compatibility candidates that use the same protocol or connection method. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.
This integration supports the AJA KUMO range.

Supported Product Range
The installed firmware must expose the required /config count, label, routing, and change-event parameters. The KUMO CP and CP2 are separate Ethernet control panels, not routers.

Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified)
-
Routers from other vendors that implement the AJA KUMO REST API and expose the required
/configcount, label, routing, and change-event parameters.
Known Limitations
-
The integration exposes one video-routing matrix per KUMO unit.
-
hi provides no credential setting for this connection. AJA documents a login cookie for a password-protected KUMO router, and hi sends no login. Disable the password protection on the KUMO router, because hi cannot sign in to a password-protected router.
-
Validate the required
/configparameters on the installed device.
What's Not Supported
-
Writes to the secondary label line; label writes update the primary line only.
-
Destination locks and salvos.
-
Engineering-level network configuration - use the KUMO web interface.
-
Firmware updates - use the vendor's native update utility.
-
Product identity and hardware diagnostics are not available through this integration.
