Generic Pro-Bel SW-P-08 Compatible Router

Generic Pro-Bel SW-P-08 Compatible Router

Driver Maturity

Production

Recommended for normal production use.

Caution

Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Minimum hi Version: v1.1.0

Overview

This integration provides Crosspoint routing, state monitoring, label reads, extended addressing, and redundant-controller status through Pro-Bel SW-P-08.

Network Requirements

  • Allow outbound TCP from hi to each configured router controller on Port 2008 by default.

  • The control Port is configurable and may differ from the template default.

  • No callback or inbound connection to hi is used.

  • Keep the plaintext connection on a trusted management network.

Operator Workflow

  • UI Surface in hi: Routing Matrix and Inventory

  • Router Scope: The configured router level

  • Routing Semantics: hi exposes the configured Sources, Destinations, Crosspoints, and labels.

  • Notes for Operators Familiar with the Vendor's Own Tooling: Use vendor tooling for protection, UMD, tie-line, salvo, and engineering configuration.

Supported Features

Feature

Access

Exposed Operation and Scope

Crosspoint Connect

Write-only

Route a Source to a Destination on a specified level.

Crosspoint Interrogate

Read-only

Query the currently routed Source for a Destination.

Crosspoint Connected

Read-only response

Receive asynchronous confirmation of successful Crosspoint changes.

Crosspoint Tally and Tally Dump

Read-only updates

Request tally updates or a full Crosspoint-state dump.

Source and Destination Names

Read-only

Read input and output labels from the router.

Extended Addressing

Protocol capability

The integration processes the extended SW-P-08 message set. Whether a router uses it depends on the router controller.

Dual Controller Status

Read-only

Monitor connections to redundant router controllers.

Protocol Acknowledgment Frames

Read/write protocol handling

Send ACK/NAK for received frames and process acknowledgments for outbound messages. An ACK confirms frame receipt/format, not successful command execution.

Device Coverage

Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies compatibility candidates that use the same protocol or connection method. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.

Use the device-specific integrations for Calrec Hydra2, Grass Valley Sirius / Vega Series, NTP Technology Penta, Riedel MediorNet TDM, and Ross Video Ultrix.

Tested With

  • Grass Valley Pyxis Router System

Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified)

  • Other routing systems that implement SW-P-08 and support the routing, status, and label messages listed above.

Known Limitations

  • Standard addressing supports a maximum of 1024 Sources and 1024 Destinations per level.

  • Not all manufacturers implement every SW-P-08 command. A router can acknowledge a command that it does not support and send no reply.

  • No encryption or authentication at the protocol level.

  • Router controllers report their supported operations and dimensions individually. Set Level, Matrix, Input Count, and Output Count from the router database, not from assumption.

  • This integration does not write labels.

What's Not Supported

  • Engineering-level configuration (level naming, port labels, redundancy setup) - use the vendor's native router-control tool.

  • Firmware updates - use the vendor's native update utility.

  • Hardware diagnostics and SFP-level health - surfaced by the device's own management plane, not this integration.

  • Writing labels to the router.
