Lawo Ember+ Parameter Controllable Device Integration Configuration

Lawo Ember+ Parameter Controllable Device Integration Configuration

Caution

Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Configuration Overview

An Ember+ provider connects to hi as one Parameter Control Node. The provider decides which parameters exist, so hi shows only what the provider publishes. Use this integration for parameters. Use the Ember+ Compatible Router integration for matrices.

Caution

hi disconnects a provider that does not answer keep-alive requests within 10 seconds. Confirm that the provider answers keep-alive requests before production use.

Before You Begin

  • Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes. See Manage Nodes.

  • Confirm the license and minimum hi version in Required Configuration.

  • Use the configuration tool of the device vendor to enable the Ember+ provider. Optionally use an Ember+ viewer to browse the provider tree.

  • Confirm the network access in Network Requirements.

Configure Ember+ Parameter Control

Use this configuration to read and write the parameters that an Ember+ provider publishes.

Device Configuration

  1. Enable the Ember+ provider as the device documentation describes, and record its TCP Port. The Ember+ specification does not fix a Port. hi pre-fills TCP 9000; the device can use a different Port.

  2. Optionally, browse the provider with an Ember+ viewer, such as the one in the Lawo Ember+ releases, to confirm the parameters, matrices, and functions that it publishes.

hi Configuration

  1. Add the Ember+ Parameter Controllable Device integration, manufacturer Lawo, in Inventory.

  2. Enter the provider address and Port. hi pre-fills 9000. The integration has no further settings.

  3. Create the Node. hi connects and loads the top two levels of the provider tree.

  4. In the Parameter Browser, open the branches that you need, select the parameters that hi must monitor, and select Pin Selected. hi subscribes to the value updates of pinned parameters.

  5. Assign pinned parameters to Ports when operators need them on the Control Panel. See Assign a Parameter Control.

Common Checks

Symptom

Check

The Node connects and then disconnects.

Confirm that the provider answers Ember+ keep-alive requests within 10 seconds.

An element shows This is a Matrix.

Add an Ember+ Compatible Router Node for the matrix.

A parameter shows This parameter's data type can't currently be managed from hi.

The parameter uses a data type that hi does not present, such as Octets.

A parameter cannot be changed.

Confirm that the Ember+ access of the parameter allows writing. hi presents parameters without write access as read-only.

Verify the Configuration

Confirm that the Node reports a connected state and that the Parameter Browser shows the provider tree. Pin a known parameter, change it on the device, and confirm that hi shows the new value. Then change a safe parameter from hi and confirm that the device shows the same value.
