Assign a Parameter Control

Overview

Assign a pinned parameter to a Port or Port Container so that operators can use its control in the Control Panel Widget Area.

Prerequisites

• The Node exposes the required parameter. See Manage Nodes for Node configuration.

• Use an account with the Node admin role to open the Node's Parameters tab and to pin parameters and assign them to Ports. See Access Control.

• The operator can access the intended Ports and a Control Panel Preset with Widget Area enabled.

Assign the Parameter

1. Open the Node and select Parameters.

2. Select the parameter, then select Pin Selected.

3. Select Assign to Ports.

4. Select the Ports or Port Containers that should expose the control.

Pinning and unpinning take place in the Node's Parameters tab. The Widget Library's Pinned Parameters tab shows assignments. See Manage Widgets: Pinned Parameters.

Verify the Result

1. Open the Control Panel with the intended Preset.

2. Confirm that the Preset has Enable Widget Area selected.

3. Select an assigned Port or Port Container.

4. Confirm that the parameter control appears in the Widget Area.

The control depends on the parameter's data type and whether it is writable. See Parameter Control for Parameter Container behavior.
