Pixel Power Gallium Parameter Controllable Device Integration Configuration

Pixel Power Gallium Parameter Controllable Device Integration Configuration

Caution

Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Configuration Overview

A Gallium system connects to hi as one Parameter Control Node. hi uses the Gallium Core and Playout services over plain HTTP and sends no credentials, so the Gallium REST services must accept unauthenticated HTTP requests from hi.

Caution

Take commands start playout events on the listed Gallium channels. Test them on a channel that is not on air.

Before You Begin

  • Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes. See Manage Nodes.

  • Confirm the license and minimum hi version in Required Configuration.

  • Obtain access to Gallium administration and to the current Pixel Power documentation.

  • Confirm the network access in Network Requirements.

Configure Gallium Parameter Control

Use this configuration to read the master/follower state and the channel names, and to send Take commands.

Device Configuration

  1. Confirm that the Gallium Core and Playout REST services answer on Port 9200.

  2. In the configuration file of each service, in its subdirectory of the Pixel Power software directory, keep clientCredentialType at None and keep the service address on HTTP. Pixel Power support assists with changes to these files.

  3. Record the short names of the playout channels that hi must control.

hi Configuration

  1. Add the Gallium Parameter Controllable Device integration, manufacturer Pixel Power, in Inventory.

  2. Enter the Gallium address and Port. hi pre-fills 9200. The integration has no further settings.

  3. Create the Node.

  4. In the Parameter Browser, open Gallium > Core > System status and Gallium > Playout > Channels, select the parameters that hi must use, and select Pin Selected.

  5. Assign pinned parameters to Ports or use them in Rules. See Assign a Parameter Control.

Common Checks

Symptom

Check

The Node is disconnected.

Confirm that the Gallium REST services answer on the Port within 3 seconds and accept HTTP without credentials.

A Take command has no effect on a channel.

Confirm that the value lists the channel short name exactly. Gallium skips a channel that does not exist.

Verify the Configuration

Confirm that the Node reports a connected state and that Channel Names lists the Gallium playout channels. Change the master/follower state in Gallium and confirm that hi shows the new state within a few seconds. Then send Take Next to a channel that is not on air and confirm the result in Gallium.
