AJA KUMO Compatible Router Integration Configuration
Caution
Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Configuration Overview
The KUMO integration has one configuration. hi reads the matrix size from the router, so only the address and the Port must match.

KUMO Video Routing |

hi must route a KUMO router. |
Before You Begin
-
Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes. See Manage Nodes.
-
Confirm the license and minimum hi version in Required Configuration.
-
Record the KUMO router address.
-
Confirm the network access in Network Requirements.
Configure KUMO Video Routing
Device Configuration
-
Open the KUMO web interface and select the NETWORK tab. KUMO routers ship with DHCP turned on. To use a fixed address, select Static IP, enter the address settings, and select Update Network Settings.
-
On the same NETWORK tab, confirm that User Authentication is set to Disabled, which is the KUMO default. The AJA REST interface requires a login only when authentication is turned on, and hi sends no login.
-
If the router is not reachable on the facility network, insert a straightened paper clip into the rear reset slot and hold it for five seconds. The router restarts with a temporary recovery address, given in the AJA KUMO manual, until its next restart, so that you can set the network settings from a directly connected computer.
-
Confirm that the hi server can reach the router on HTTP Port
80.
hi Configuration
-
Add the KUMO Compatible Router integration (manufacturer AJA) in Inventory.
-
Enter the router address in the form
http://address. The default Port is80. -
Create the Node. hi reads the Source and Destination counts from the router and creates the Sources and Destinations from them. No count setting exists.
-
After the Node is created, the Operations group shows Reinitialize and Reset. Reinitialize disconnects all connections to the router and restarts initialization. Reset restarts the services that communicate with the router.

Common Checks
|
Symptom |
Check |
|---|---|
|
The Node does not connect. |
Confirm that the address uses the form |
|
Synchronization fails. |
Confirm that the KUMO web interface opens at the configured address, then check the network path from the hi server to the router. |
|
Labels or Crosspoints stop updating. |
Select Reinitialize in the Operations group. If the state does not return, select Reset. |
|
A label change from hi updates only one line. |
hi writes only the primary label line. The secondary line is not writable from hi. |
Verify the Configuration
Wait for the labels and Crosspoints to load in hi. Compare the Source labels, the Destination labels, and several Crosspoints with the KUMO web interface. Route a noncritical Destination from hi and confirm the change on the router. Then change a Crosspoint from the KUMO web interface and confirm that hi shows it without a restart, because hi receives changes through the long-poll interface.
