Generic Pro-Bel SW-P-08 Compatible Router Integration Configuration
Caution
Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Configuration Overview
Each hi Node controls one matrix and one level of the router. The router database decides how many Nodes you need. Record the levels and matrices first, then create one Node for each one that hi must control.
|
Configuration |
What hi Sees |
Use When |
|---|---|---|
|
Single Level |
One matrix of Sources and Destinations. |
The router exposes one level that hi must control. |
|
Several Levels |
One Node for each level or matrix, for example one for video and one for audio. |
Video and audio, or several matrices, must be routed from hi. |
Caution
Level and matrix values are zero based. A wrong value connects the Node to a different level than intended.
Before You Begin
-
Use Node admin and open Inventory > Nodes. See Manage Nodes.
-
Confirm the license and minimum hi version in Required Configuration.
-
Use the vendor's router configuration tool to read the levels, the matrices, and the Source and Destination counts.
-
Confirm the network access in Network Requirements.
Configure Single Level
Use this configuration to control one level.
Device Configuration
-
Configure the router controller to accept SW-P-08 protocol connections, and confirm that the router implements the SW-P-08 operations that hi requires.
-
Record the controller address and the TCP Port. For a dual-controller setup, configure both controller addresses and record each one.
-
Record the level index and the matrix index in the router database.
-
Record the number of Sources and the number of Destinations on that level.
hi Configuration
-
Add the Probel SW-P-08 Compatible Router integration (manufacturer Generic) in Inventory.
-
Enter the controller address and the control Port. Enter a second controller address for a redundant controller.
-
Select the Signal Type, and enter Level and Matrix as recorded.
-
Enter the Input Count and Output Count.
-
Set Dummy Crosspoints to
No, unless hi must show Crosspoints before the device connects. -
Create the Node.

Configure Several Levels
Use this configuration when hi must control more than one level or matrix.
Device Configuration
-
Record the level and matrix of each signal type that hi must route.
-
Record the number of Sources and Destinations of each one.
hi Configuration
-
Create one Node for each level or matrix, as described in Configure Single Level.
-
Give each Node a distinct name and the Signal Type of its level.
-
For a worked example with a video Node and an audio Node, see Ross Video Ultrix Router.
Common Checks
|
Symptom |
Check |
|---|---|
|
Names or Crosspoints are wrong. |
Compare the Level, Matrix, and counts with the router database. |
|
The Node does not connect. |
Confirm the controller address and Port. |
Verify the Configuration
Wait for the Node to report a connected controller. Compare the discovered labels and Crosspoints with the router controller, and test a route on a noncritical Destination. Confirm that later state changes return to hi. If synchronization fails, verify protocol compatibility, the Level and Matrix addressing, the matrix dimensions, the active-controller state, and that the hi server can reach each configured controller Port. hi opens the connection, and the controller makes no connection to hi.
