Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Minimum hi Version: v2.6.0

Overview

The Sony® HDCU-5500 integration monitors and controls supported Parameters through Ember+. It sends TSL UMD labels and Tally state to the HDCU over UDP.

Network Requirements

  • Allow outbound TCP from hi to the HDCU-5500 on Port 9000 for Ember+.

  • If TSL UMD is used, allow outbound UDP from hi to the HDCU-5500 on Port 8900.

Notes

Ember+ (Lawo)

Glow DTD parameter tree per Ember+ spec

Open community specification used as a de facto standard; widely adopted.

TSL UMD

TSL 5 single-display messages for labels and Tally

Sent from hi to the HDCU over UDP.

Operator Workflow

  • Exposed Ember+ Parameters appear in Parameter Control.

  • hi sends the monitored Source name and the first two Tally definitions that exist when the Node is created, as Tally states, to the HDCU UMD display.

Supported Features

Feature

Access

Exposed Operation and Scope

HDCU Signal Topology

Model-only

Adds the HDCU-5500 static ports and Crosspoint topology in hi.

Parameter Monitoring

Read-only

Read parameters exposed by the HDCU Ember+ tree.

Parameter Updates

Read-only updates

Receive Ember+ subscription updates where exposed.

Parameter Control

Per-parameter access

Write only parameters the device marks writable through Ember+.

UMD Labels and Tally

Write-only output

Send TSL 5 labels and up to two Tally states from hi to the HDCU. No return-state read is provided by this output.

Device Coverage

Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi.

Tested With

  • Sony HDCE-TX30

  • Sony HDCU-3100

  • Sony HDCU-5500

Known Limitations

  • The available parameter tree depends on the installed HDCU software and configuration. Validate the required controls before production use.

  • If Parameters do not appear, confirm that the HDCU Ember+ service is enabled and reachable on the configured TCP Port.

  • hi sends an Ember+ keep-alive request every 5 seconds, and it disconnects when the provider does not answer within 10 seconds. hi requires the provider to answer keep-alive requests.

What's Not Supported

  • Sony CNA-2 REST or webhook operation through this template.

  • Firmware updates, calibration, or device-configuration backup.

  • Ember+ Functions, including Qualified Functions, and function invocation. The Ember+ specification defines them from Glow 2.20, and hi never sends an Invoke command.

  • Ember+ Templates, including Qualified Templates, and template references. The specification defines them from Glow 2.40. hi requests all fields of each element, and it does not resolve template references.
