Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Minimum hi Version: v2.7.6
Overview
The Grass Valley® Camera Connect integration discovers, monitors, and controls camera functions through an XML 2.0 connection.
Network Requirements
-
Connection Model: hi opens a persistent unicast TCP connection to the Camera Connect gateway.
-
Bandwidth: Control data only.
-
Firewall: Allow outbound TCP from the hi server to the gateway on Port
8080by default. -
Network Placement: The Camera Connect server has two Ethernet ports. One port connects to the public network where XML clients such as hi connect, and the other connects to the separate C2IP camera network. Connect hi to the public network side only.

Operator Workflow
-
Camera functions published by the gateway appear as Parameters under the device Node in Inventory.
-
Parameters appear under C2IP Network, grouped into Camera, Basestation, and OCP folders. Each device folder shows the camera number followed by the device ID. Each function shows its name followed by its function ID in parentheses.
-
Assign supported Parameters to a Control Panel or use them in Rules and Snapshots.
-
Configure camera-system engineering settings using Grass Valley tools.

Device Coverage
Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies devices that use the same protocol or connection method but have not been tested with hi. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.
This integration supports the Grass Valley LDX and LDK Series range.

Supported Product Range
The C2IP camera control network supports all LDX and LDK Series HD cameras, and the Connect Gateway exposes them to hi through Camera Connect XML:
-
Grass Valley LDX Series
-
Grass Valley LDK Series
Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified)
-
Other Grass Valley camera systems that expose the supported Camera Connect XML surface.
Known Limitations
-
A gateway can publish different functions for each connected camera model.
-
One Connect Gateway accepts up to 32 XML clients at the same time. Count hi and every other XML client, such as a switcher or a control application, against this limit.
-
The Camera Connect server controls up to 99 cameras on the C2IP network.
-
If no function tree appears, confirm that the Camera Connect gateway is enabled, reachable, and publishing the required camera functions.
-
hi lists only devices that have a device ID and whose gateway connection state is connected. hi removes devices from the tree when they disconnect or when the gateway reports them as unsupported.
What's Not Supported
-
Functions that the gateway does not publish through Camera Connect.
-
Camera calibration, gateway network setup, and firmware updates.
-
Device-configuration backup.
-
Changing a device's camera number, alias, or device ID through Camera Connect.
