Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Minimum hi Version: v2.7.6

Overview

The Sony® CNA-2 integration reads camera Tally, reads and sets microphone gain, and reads and sets CCU and RCP assignments through the CNA-2 HTTPS API. It receives Tally and assignment updates through an HTTP webhook and polls microphone gain every 5 seconds.

Network Requirements

  • Connection Model: hi opens the HTTPS API connection. CNA-2 posts updates to an HTTP listener on hi.

  • Bandwidth: Control data only.

  • Firewall: Allow outbound TCP 443 from hi and inbound callbacks on the selected hi Port; the permitted listener range is 31000 to 31999.

Operator Workflow

  • Supported camera and CCU Parameters appear under the device Node in Inventory.

  • hi reads Tally state and manages supported CCU and RCP assignments.

  • Each camera has Tally (Red, Green, Yellow) and Microphone gain (Mic Gain 1, Mic Gain 2). Assignments appear under CCU Assignment > CCU n and RCP Assignment > Panel n.

  • Assign Parameters to a Control Panel or use them in Rules and Snapshots.

Information

CNA-2 webhook updates must reach the commissioned hi server address and the configured webhook listener Port. This is separate from CNA-2's HTTPS API endpoint, Port 443 by default.

Required Configuration

Parameter

Description

Default

Host / IP Address

IP address of the CNA-2 system

-

Port

hi always connects to the CNA-2 Web API over HTTPS on Port 443. The Port is not configurable.

-

Password

Password for the configured CNA-2 account

-

Root SSL certificate

Root certificate setting. hi 3.0.0 does not use it to validate the CNA-2 certificate.

-

Accept Untrusted SSL Root Certificate

Untrusted-root setting. hi 3.0.0 does not use it to validate the CNA-2 certificate.

Access

Description

Camera Tally

Read-only

Read the Red
Green
and Yellow Tally states for exposed cameras

Camera Microphone Gain

Read/write

Read or set Mic Gain 1 and Mic Gain 2 for exposed cameras. Values are 60 dB, 50 dB, 40 dB, 30 dB, and 20 dB; CNA-2 reports Unavailable when no value is available.

CCU Assignment

Read/write

Read or set the CCU assignment values exposed by CNA-2

RCP Assignment

Read/write

Read or set the RCP assignment values exposed by CNA-2

Device Coverage

Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies devices that use the same protocol or connection method but have not been tested with hi. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.

Tested With

  • Sony CNA-2

Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified)

  • Sony camera systems that CNA-2 exposes through the supported API topics.

Known Limitations

  • Webhook delivery requires CNA-2 to reach the configured hi listener.

Caution

hi 3.0.0 does not validate the CNA-2 server certificate, whatever the certificate settings. HTTPS encrypts the connection but does not authenticate the CNA-2. Place CNA-2 and hi on a trusted management network.

  • If polled values work but event updates stop, verify webhook reachability and confirm that CNA-2 still has the hi listener registered.

  • CNA-2 stores up to 10 registered webhook server URLs. Remove stale registrations when several controllers use the same CNA-2.

  • Each hi Node registers one webhook URL whose name starts with hi-. At each connection, hi deletes and re-registers that entry, so it does not accumulate stale registrations of its own.

  • In a federation, a CNA-2 in Web UI mode for overall monitoring can delay API responses under heavy system load.

  • hi lists Cameras 1 to 96, CCUs 1 to 96, and Panels 1 to 96 whether or not each number exists in the CNA-2 system.

  • hi addresses Web API domain number 0, which Sony assigns to CNS Mode MCS. CNS Mode GMCS uses nonzero domain numbers and is outside this integration.

  • hi polls microphone gain every 5 seconds. hi reads Tally and assignment values from the Web API on first use and after a 15-minute cache expiry. Changes between reads reach hi only through the webhook.

  • hi signs in when it connects and uses the issued token for later requests. The token expires after the period set in Settings > Maintenance > Auto Sign out Time.

What's Not Supported

  • Camera controls for Gain, Gamma, Color, Lens, Flicker, Output, Detail, and Flow, and broader camera-system configuration. These parameters are not exposed by this hi integration.

  • CNA-2 topics and operations other than the Tally, microphone-gain, CCU-assignment, and RCP-assignment paths listed under Supported Features.

  • Camera calibration and network setup.

  • Firmware updates and device-configuration backup.

  • CNA-2 SSCP control on TCP Port 7800, including writing camera Tally. hi uses the Web API only, so Tally is read-only.

  • Call signals and Panel Active, IRIS/MB Active, and Para status events that CNA-2 sends as webhooks.

  • Cameras in CNS Mode GMCS domains, which the Web API addresses as domain numbers other than 0.

  • HTTPS webhook delivery. CNA-2 supports HTTPS webhooks with an installed root certificate, but the hi listener accepts HTTP only.
