Grass Valley XCU Series
Production
Recommended for normal production use.
Caution
Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.
Confirm that the template's Ports and fixed Signal Paths match the commissioned XCU configuration.
Minimum hi Version: v2.0.0
Overview
The Grass Valley® XCU Series template represents XCU endpoints and fixed Crosspoints in the hi Topology. It does not connect directly to the XCU.
Network Requirements
-
No network connection, device address, Port, authentication, or firewall rule is required by this template.
Operator Workflow
-
UI Surface in hi: Inventory, Topology, and routing workflows that use the configured XCU endpoints
-
Layers Controlled: Static signal representation
-
Routing Semantics: The template contributes fixed XCU Ports and Crosspoints to the Topology.

Static XCU Endpoints |
Model-only |
Inputs: Camera In, EXT 1, EXT 2, EXT 3, two TP inputs, Ref In, and GPI 1 and GPI 2 GPIO Ports. Outputs: HD OUT A/1, A/2, B/1, B/2, C/1, and C/2; LIVE-EFF D/1 and LIVE EFF D/2; SDI OUT 1 and SDI OUT 2; HD-SDI; SDI; CVBS; REF; TP; and Audio Out Ch 1 and Ch 2. No live XCU read or write occurs. |
|
Static Crosspoints |
Model-only |
Camera In to every video output; Ref In to REF; the second TP input to TP. EXT, GPI, and audio Ports have no fixed Crosspoint. |
Device Coverage
This integration models XCU Series base stations in the Topology only. Because hi does not connect to the XCU, it has no Tested With list and no XCU firmware range.
Known Limitations
-
This template defines static XCU signal topology only; hi does not connect to the physical XCU or expose its live state.
-
Count and Start numbering with are available only when you create the Nodes. hi creates one Node for each CCU and adds the CCU number to each Node name, starting at Start numbering with. When Count is
1, hi does not add a number.
What's Not Supported
-
Live XCU discovery, device-state readback, Parameter Control, Camera Connect communication, and device management through this static template. Use Grass Valley Camera Connect only when the configured gateway exposes the required XCU functions.
