Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Minimum hi Version: v2.6.2

Overview

The Sony® MSU-3500 integration monitors and controls supported Crosspoints and Parameters through Ember+.

Network Requirements

  • Allow outbound TCP from hi to the Ember+ Port that Sony confirms for the MSU-3500. The hi default is 9000.

Notes

Ember+ (Lawo)

Glow DTD parameter tree per Ember+ spec

Open community specification used as a de facto standard; widely adopted.

Operator Workflow

  • Exposed Ember+ Crosspoints and Parameters appear under the MSU Node in Inventory.

  • Operators can monitor or change the controls exposed by the commissioned Ember+ tree.

Traffic Flow

Bidirectional over a connection initiated by hi

Required Configuration

The template defines two Ember+ connections, one for Crosspoints and one for Parameters. Both default to TCP Port 9000. The template defines no Ports of its own and has no Count or Start numbering with setting. Crosspoints come from the device's Ember+ tree.

Device-Side Setup

Follow Sony MSU-3500 Integration Configuration for the device-side and hi-side configuration steps.

Supported Features

Feature

Access

Exposed Operation and Scope

Ember+ Crosspoints

Read/write

Read and set only the Crosspoints exposed by the MSU Ember+ tree.

Ember+ Parameters

Per-parameter access

Read exposed Parameters and write only those marked writable by the Ember+ tree.

Device Coverage

Confirm the MSU-3500 software version with Sony, and validate the required Crosspoints and Parameters before production use.

Known Limitations

  • Available Crosspoints and Parameters depend on the installed MSU software and configuration.

  • If Crosspoints or Parameters do not appear, confirm that the MSU Ember+ service is enabled and reachable on the configured TCP Port.

  • hi sends an Ember+ keep-alive request every 5 seconds, and it disconnects when the provider does not answer within 10 seconds. hi requires the provider to answer keep-alive requests.

What's Not Supported

  • Sony CNA-2 REST or webhook operation through this template.

  • Firmware updates, calibration, or device-configuration backup.

  • Ember+ Functions, including Qualified Functions, and function invocation. The Ember+ specification defines them from Glow 2.20, and hi never sends an Invoke command.

  • Ember+ Templates, including Qualified Templates, and template references. The specification defines them from Glow 2.40. hi requests all fields of each element, and it does not resolve template references.
