Compatibility Note: This information is a general guide and may be incomplete, may not match a specific project implementation, and is subject to change as supported products and versions evolve. Confirm the exact implementation and requirements for each project with Riedel and the relevant equipment vendor, then validate the required functions end to end in the target environment before deployment.

Minimum hi Version: v2.7.3

Overview

The Panasonic® PTZ Series integration controls supported camera, lens, Pan/Tilt, and Preset Parameters through the AW Protocol HTTP interface.

Network Requirements

  • Connection Model: hi sends HTTP requests to the camera. The camera opens a TCP callback connection for updates.

  • Bandwidth: Control data only.

  • Firewall: Allow outbound TCP 80 from hi and inbound callbacks on the selected hi Port; the permitted callback range is 31000 to 31999.

Operator Workflow

  • Supported camera, lens, Pan/Tilt, and Preset Parameters appear under the device Node in Inventory.

  • Assign these Parameters to a Control Panel or use them in Rules and Snapshots.

  • Configure calibration, mechanical limits, and network settings using the camera's web interface.

Connection Methods

Connection: Static Camera Topology

This surface represents the camera's Ports and wiring in hi. It does not send camera commands or confirm a camera's network status. Use the AW Protocol and event callback surfaces below for camera control and updates.

Device Coverage

Tested With identifies devices that have been tested with hi. Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified) identifies devices that use the same protocol or connection method but have not been tested with hi. Device-specific configuration, firmware, and feature support can affect results.

This integration supports the Panasonic AW-UE PTZ camera range.

Tested With

  • Panasonic AW-UE50

  • Panasonic AW-UE80

  • Panasonic AW-UE100

  • Panasonic AW-UE150

  • Panasonic AW-UE160

Supported Product Range

The following AW-UE models use the same AW Protocol interface:

  • Panasonic AW-UE4

  • Panasonic AW-UE20

  • Panasonic AW-UE30

  • Panasonic AW-UE40

  • Panasonic AW-UE70

  • Panasonic AW-UE150A

Potentially Compatible (Not Yet Verified)

  • Other Panasonic cameras that implement the AW Protocol commands and update callback used by this integration, such as the AW-HE, AW-HR, AW-UB, and AW-UR models. A camera can reject Parameters that its model does not implement.

Known Limitations

  • A camera can reject Parameters that its model or firmware does not implement.

  • If control works but state updates do not appear, confirm that the camera can reach the configured hi callback Port. The camera opens the update connection to hi, so a firewall or NAT rule between the camera and hi can block updates while control still works.

  • Panasonic defines two access levels for camera CGI commands. With User auth. Off, the factory setting, camera control needs no ID or password, and setup functions need Administrator credentials. With User auth. On, camera control also needs an ID and password with camera-control or Administrator authority. hi does not send credentials, so it controls the camera only with User auth. Off.

  • The minimum interval between AW commands over IP is about 40 ms on the AW-UE150, 45 ms on the AW-HE70 series, and 80 ms on the AW-HE130 series, with one camera, one controller, and no streaming output. These values are not guaranteed. The interval grows with more connected devices and depends on the command.

  • The AW-UE150 sends update notifications to at most five receiving terminals at the same time, and a connected remote camera controller counts as one. hi registers one terminal for each Node, so other controllers and applications that subscribe to the same camera share this limit.

  • hi waits up to 3 seconds for each HTTP request. Ten seconds after connecting, and then every 30 seconds, hi queries the camera's registered update-session count. A zero count or a failed query causes hi to report the Node as disconnected. A nonzero count does not confirm that hi's own callback is registered; verify that camera changes update in hi.

What's Not Supported

  • Camera credential settings; isolate the control network accordingly.

  • Camera functions outside the implemented AW Protocol command set.

  • Lens calibration, mechanical limits, and camera network setup.

  • Firmware updates and device-configuration backup.

  • Tally lamp control.

  • Gain, shutter, ND filter, pedestal, color-bar, and install-position settings, and scene-file recall.

  • SD recording and RTMP, SRT, or TS streaming control.

  • Preset thumbnails.
