Compatibility

Area

Change in This Release

Server Operating System

The installation and infrastructure update procedure requires Ubuntu 20.04 Server LTS and rejects Ubuntu 16.04.

Browser Clients

No change.

Hardware Panel Firmware

No change.

Integrations

Added support for Nevion VideoIPath and Riedel hiDot; see New Integrations.

For more information, see: Supported Operating Systems.

For more information, see: Minimum Hardware Specifications.

Licensing Impact

Breaking Changes

Ubuntu 20.04 Server LTS Required

  • The installation and infrastructure update procedure requires Ubuntu 20.04 Server LTS. Ubuntu 16.04 Server LTS is no longer accepted by that procedure.

  • Arrange the operating-system migration with Riedel Customer Success before upgrading an Ubuntu 16.04 installation. Do not use the hi update procedure to perform the operating-system migration.

For more information, see: Supported Operating Systems.

New Integrations

Nevion VideoIPath Core Integration

  • Added synchronization of Nevion® VideoIPath™ devices, endpoints, and bookings with hi, and routing through VideoIPath.

For more information, see: Nevion VideoIPath Core Integration.

Riedel hiDot Series

  • Added support for the Riedel hiDot™, which is configured with its own editor instead of the generic Hardware Panel workflows.

For more information, see: Riedel hiDot Series.

New Hardware

hiDot (Mark 1)

  • Introduced the hiDot (Mark 1) hardware device.

For more information, see: hiDot (Mark 1).

Added

Microsoft Entra ID Sign-In

  • Introduced sign-in with Microsoft® Entra ID, along with HTTPS support for the hi web interface.

For more information, see: Configure Microsoft Entra ID Sign-In.

Label Override

  • Added a Label Override setting for the Control Panel and Hardware Panels.

For more information, see: Control Panel.

Port Container Groups

  • Added groups for Port Containers.

For more information, see: Port Containers.

HTTP Action with Routed Source

  • Added an HTTP request that includes the routed Source for a specific Destination.

For more information, see: Manage Rules.

Floating Licenses

  • Added floating licensing and a license portal export option.

  • User-session counting distinguishes separate browsers or devices. Additional tabs in the same browser session do not consume another user license. Connected Hardware Panels also count toward user-license usage.

For more information, see: Manage Licensing.

Offline Indication

  • Added offline indication for Ports and Port Containers on the Control Panel, Monitor Walls, and Hardware Panels.

For more information, see: Control Panel.

Multicast Address Range

  • Added selection of the IP address range used by multicast management.

For more information, see: Manage Multicast Addresses.

Port Picker Format Filter

  • Added a format filter to the By Node tab of the Port Picker.

For more information, see: Control Panel.

Changed

License Enforcement

  • Changed Rules and Joystick Override to enforce licensing, and NMOS to respect the Node limit defined in the license.

  • Existing legacy base licenses retain Rules and Joystick Override; newer license packages require the corresponding feature entitlements.

For more information, see: Manage Licensing.

Multicast Address Management

  • Updated Multicast Address Management to remove its experimental license switch.

For more information, see: Manage Multicast Addresses.

Rule Action and Trigger Dialog

  • Updated the design of the Rule action and trigger dialog.

For more information, see: Manage Rules.
