Upgrade Guidance
Caution
Server operating-system migration and Cluster maintenance require specialist support. An incorrect intervention can interrupt critical services, compromise database integrity, or cause data loss. Contact Riedel Customer Success before changing the infrastructure and follow the support-guided upgrade procedure.
Supported Upgrade Path
Riedel recommends a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 Server LTS installation rather than an in-place Ubuntu upgrade because issues can arise during the Ubuntu upgrade process. After installing Ubuntu, upgrade hi through the support-guided procedure.
Software Update Eligibility: Software updates require support coverage for your hi products. Eligible customers are existing hiData customers, Riedel Care Enhanced customers, or Riedel Care Premium customers.
For more information, see: Customer Support.
Before Upgrading
-
Create a full system Backup.
-
Have the support team coordinate a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 Server LTS installation and confirm the server is ready for the hi upgrade.
-
Coordinate the Riedel Licensing migration through the support-led upgrade process. Confirm the Cluster entitlement for multi-server installations and sufficient user sessions for simultaneous browser or device logins.
-
Confirm that affected Riedel 1200 Series Control Panel App configurations use the current published Port.
-
Record the configuration of existing Matrox ConvertIP Nodes.
After Upgrading
-
Delete and recreate the existing Matrox ConvertIP Nodes from the recorded configuration.
-
Review the global and per-Node NMOS Master Enable and RTP path-management settings.
-
Verify licensing, Node connectivity, routing, Hardware Panels, Backups, and NMOS path behavior.

For more information, see: Supported Operating Systems.
For more information, see: Minimum Hardware Specifications.
Licensing Impact
Coordinate the Riedel Licensing migration through the support-led upgrade process.
Multi-server installations require the Cluster entitlement for new device deployments. Deployments blocked by this entitlement start when the entitlement is applied; existing deployments are retained. Separate logins from different browsers or devices count as separate user sessions, including when they use the same account.
For more information, see: Licensing.
Breaking Changes
Transition to Riedel Licensing
-
Version 3.0.0 replaces the legacy licensing system with Riedel Licensing. Customer licenses are migrated to the new platform during the support-led upgrade process.
Information
Operator Impact: Licensing terminology, interfaces, and workflows differ from earlier releases.
Caution
Required Action: Coordinate the license migration before upgrading.
For more information, see: Licensing.
Riedel 1200 Series Control Panel App Default Port Change
-
The default Riedel 1200 Series Control Panel App Port changed to match the Riedel SmartPanel default.
Information
Operator Impact: Existing deployments that explicitly use the previous default Port can lose Control Panel App connectivity.
Caution
Required Action: Verify the Control Panel App configuration, network plan, and firewall rules after the upgrade.
For more information, see: Riedel 1200 Series SmartPanel.
Removal of Ubuntu 20.04 Server LTS Support
-
Version 3.0.0 no longer supports Ubuntu 20.04 Server LTS.
Information
Operator Impact: Installations using Ubuntu 20.04 Server LTS are not eligible for the version 3.0.0 upgrade.
Caution
Required Action: Coordinate a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 Server LTS installation with Riedel Customer Success before upgrading the hi system. Follow the specialist responsibility and risk guidance in Upgrade Guidance.
For more information, see: Upgrade Guidance.
For more information, see: Supported Operating Systems.
Recreate Existing Matrox ConvertIP Nodes
-
Existing Matrox ConvertIP Nodes must be deleted and recreated after the upgrade. This applies the updated integration settings and Parameters.
Information
Operator Impact: Existing ConvertIP Nodes do not automatically receive the new configuration model.
Caution
Required Action: Record the existing configuration, then delete and recreate each affected Node after upgrading.
For more information, see: Matrox ConvertIP.
New Integrations
None in this release.
Added
Riedel Licensing

For more information, see: Licensing.
NMOS Stream Enable Management Controls
-
Added global and per-Node controls for NMOS Master Enable and primary or secondary RTP path management. Selected paths can remain under manual or external control, including the ST 2022-7 secondary path on bandwidth-limited devices.
Information
Operator Impact: NMOS Master Enable and RTP path management are enabled by default.
Caution
Required Action: Review the global and per-Node settings when using bandwidth-constrained or single-path devices.
For more information, see: AMWA NMOS Core Integration.

For more information, see: Interface Orientation.
Header Icon Tooltips
-
Added tooltips to the Fullscreen, Edit User Profile, and Logout icons in the hi web interface header.
For more information, see: Interface Orientation.
Changed
Matrox ConvertIP
-
Updated the Matrox ConvertIP integration to configure devices as Parameter Controllable Devices. A device can be configured and reconfigured as a receiver or transmitter. Supported controls include PTP settings, device information, and remote reboot.
-
The integration can close an existing session during reconnection to accommodate the device's single-session limit. Codec configuration is not supported in this release. Changing direction restarts the device.
For more information, see: Matrox ConvertIP.
Backup Recovery
-
Improved support recovery with a tool for clearing the system configuration when a failed restore or resource exhaustion makes hi unresponsive. This recovery clears the configuration; it does not automatically roll back to the previous state. Contact Riedel Customer Success to recover the system and restore a suitable Backup.
For more information, see: Backups.
Port Container Template Preview
-
Changed the Source/Destination switch in the Port Container Template editor to update only the preview. Switching the preview does not change the Template or enable Save; Save is enabled when Template data changes.
For more information, see: Port Containers.
Nevion VideoIPath 2026.2.7
-
Updated the Nevion® VideoIPath integration to support VideoIPath 2026.2.7. Earlier supported VideoIPath versions remain supported.
For more information, see: Nevion VideoIPath.

-
Updated the licensing interfaces with a new design for the transition to Riedel Licensing. The updated interfaces align terminology and workflows with other Riedel products.
For more information, see: Licensing.
Third-Party Client License Name
-
Renamed the 3rd Party Panel license to 3rd Party Client in Riedel Licensing.
For more information, see: Licensing.
Riedel Corporate Identity

Updated terminology for Presets, integrations, and Northbound connection settings to align with Riedel terminology standards.
Device Templates and Node Creation
-
Updated Node creation with a new design, updated searchable device templates, and bulk Node creation.
-
Search covers product, manufacturer, and category. Templates that require an additional license remain visible with a license-required indication. A direct-create action opens a single Node's settings without first building a batch.
For more information, see: Add Your First Device.
System Menu
-
Updated the System menu to group System Settings, Users and Groups, Licensing, Logging, and Backups in a clearer hierarchy.
For more information, see: System.

Additional Information
Minimum Supported Ubuntu Server Version
Ubuntu 24.04 Server LTS is the only supported deployment operating system for hi version 3.0.0 and later. Use a fresh server installation instead of upgrading Ubuntu in place, and coordinate the installation with Riedel Customer Success before upgrading hi.
For more information, see: Supported Operating Systems.
Hardware Sizing
The minimum hardware specifications published for version 2.6.3 and later continue to apply. Validate final sizing with Riedel Customer Success because installation scale and workflows affect the recommended specification.
For more information, see: Minimum Hardware Specifications.
HTTPS Deployments
HTTPS deployments require a valid, traceable TLS certificate and a complete chain trusted by every Cluster node and client. Automatic reconnection cannot complete while certificate approval requires manual interaction.
For more information, see: HTTPS and Certificate Requirements.
For more information, see: Risk Context.
