Release Status

Released

Upgrade Impact

Re-create Take Mode settings in Presets; arrange a Hardware Panel firmware update to use Parameter Control on Hardware Panels; review the network interfaces for Dante.

Supported Upgrade Path

Follow the standard upgrade process.

Breaking Changes

Two: Hardware Panel Take Mode and Parameter Control on Hardware Panels.

Compatibility

Parameter Control on Hardware Panels requires updated Hardware Panel firmware.

Licensing Impact

Dante requires hiDanteBasic licenses.

Security

None.

Highlights

Three new integrations; Parameter Control on Hardware Panels; partial Snapshots; Parameter Containers.

Upgrade Guidance

Review the Required Actions in Breaking Changes before upgrading. Record existing Hardware Panel Take Mode settings before the upgrade, then re-create them in the affected Presets after upgrading.

Supported Upgrade Path

Follow the standard upgrade process.

For more information, see: Customer Support.

Before Upgrading

  1. Create a full system Backup.

  2. Record the Take Mode settings of Hardware Panels that use DirectTake or Single Destination mode.

  3. To control a Dante network, confirm that hi has a network connection into each Dante network. A Primary/Secondary setup needs physical access to both networks, which can require additional network interfaces. Contact Riedel Customer Success to change the network configuration.

After Upgrading

  1. Verify licensing, Node connectivity, routing, and Hardware Panels.

  2. Edit the affected Presets to re-create the recorded Take Mode settings, then verify their operation.

Compatibility

Area

Change in This Release

Server Operating System

No change.

Browser Clients

No change.

Hardware Panel Firmware

Parameter Control on Hardware Panels requires updated Hardware Panel firmware.

Integrations

No change.

For more information, see: Supported Operating Systems.

For more information, see: Minimum Hardware Specifications.

Licensing Impact

Dante requires separately available hiDanteBasic licenses.

For more information, see: Licensing.

Breaking Changes

Hardware Panel Take Mode

  • Moved the Take Mode setup from the Hardware Panel to the Control Panel Preset. All Take Mode options were removed from the Hardware Panel detail view.

Information

Operator Impact: Hardware Panels that used DirectTake or Single Destination mode no longer have those settings.

Caution

Required Action: After upgrading, edit the affected Presets to re-create the Take Mode settings.

For more information, see: Control Panel Presets.

Parameter Control on Hardware Panels Requires Updated Firmware

  • Parameter Control on Hardware Panels requires updated Hardware Panel firmware.

Information

Operator Impact: Parameter Control on a Hardware Panel does not work until the Hardware Panel runs the updated firmware.

Caution

Required Action: Contact Riedel Customer Success to arrange a Hardware Panel firmware update if required.

New Integrations

Nevion MRP Compatible Router

  • Added level discovery, label readout, and routing for Nevion® routers that use the Modular Routing Protocol (MRP).

For more information, see: Nevion MRP Compatible Router.

Audinate Dante Core Integration

  • Added discovery of Audinate® Dante® devices in a network and routing of audio signals between them. Start discovery by adding a Dante Master Integration Node, and check the network interface settings on its General tab. Dante requires separately available hiDanteBasic licenses.

For more information, see: Audinate Dante Core Integration.

Blackmagic Design Videohub

  • Added label readout and routing for Blackmagic Design® Videohub routers.

For more information, see: Blackmagic Design Videohub.

Added

Parameter Control on Hardware Panels

  • Introduced control of pinned Parameters from Hardware Panels. Parameters pinned to Ports that are available on a Hardware Panel can be controlled directly from the panel.

  • Enable Parameter Control for both the Hardware Panel and the assigned Preset. Quick Access Parameters can also be assigned to the panel's home screen.

For more information, see: Parameter Control.

Partial Snapshots From the Control Panel

  • Introduced an extended multiselect mode on the Control Panel. Select multiple Destinations to create a Snapshot of their currently routed Sources.

For more information, see: Snapshots.

Parameter Containers

  • Introduced Parameter Containers. Pinned numeric Parameters with the same base setup, such as range and stepping, can be combined and controlled together.

For more information, see: Parameter Control.

Pre-Filtering Ports for Users and Panels

  • Added a pre-filtering Tag that restricts the Ports available to a user or panel. The user sees only Ports with the pre-filtering Tag, and other Tags remain available for filtering.

For more information, see: Access Control.

Tag-Aware Path-Finding

  • Introduced Tag-aware path finding when connecting a Port Container. When several paths exist, hi compares the Tag assignments of the relevant Ports to choose the path.

For more information, see: Port Containers.

Recall a Snapshot Rule Action

  • Added a Rule action that recalls a Snapshot. Combined with the Button on Panel trigger, Snapshots can be recalled from the Control Panel or Hardware Panels.

For more information, see: Rules.

Output Follows Output Rule Action

  • Added the ability for a Rule to make an output follow another output. Trigger on a Crosspoint change at one output and set a Crosspoint as the action.

For more information, see: Rules.

Single-Destination and Direct-Take Modes

  • Added Single-Destination and Direct-Take modes to the Control Panel. The mode is stored in a Preset.

For more information, see: Control Panel.

Changed

Gang Take Mode

  • Changed gang take mode on the Control Panel to switch multiple signals more easily and to take a Snapshot of a subset of Destinations.

For more information, see: Gang Take.

Fixed

Control Panel

  • Take Mode Not Applied From Preset: Fixed the Take Mode of a Preset not being applied.

Nodes and Integrations

  • Evertz EQX Node: Fixed adding an Evertz EQX router Node.

  • Videohub Initialization: Fixed Blackmagic Design Videohub initialization.

  • Connection Status Notifications: Fixed connection status notifications during initialization, connection loss, and reconnection.

  • UMD Startup: Fixed UMD connections failing to start when another connection failed.
