Devices and Licensing

The Devices area is the main operational workspace for licensing. It combines Device Identity, Device Identity Lease status, Ordered Options, Resolved Options, Offline Licensing controls, and generated License Files.

Choose a Licensing Workflow

First confirm that the Licensed Product, Model, and installed Product Version are listed as Supported in Supported Products and Licensing Methods.

Use Online Activation and Renewal when it is available. If it is unavailable or does not complete, use the Offline method specified by the Licensed Product. The Portal provides distinct Manual Device Identity Lease, Manual Host Signature, and License File workflows.

Understand the Records

Record

What It Tells You

Device

The Product and Serial Number represented by the Portal record and the Customer Account that owns it.

Device Identity Lease

When the current identity verification was requested, when it expires, and whether it was requested manually.

Ordered Options

Option records attached to the Device, including Quantity, Term, State, and applicable dates.

Resolved Options

The Option set resolved for licensing, including any displayed Trial Duration.

License Files

Generated License File records, metadata, and activation-confirmation state.

Manual Identity Lease Confirmation

File downloaded through Download Manual Identity Lease Confirmation after an accepted Manual Device Identity Lease Request.

Ordered Options shows entitlement records associated with the Device. Resolved Options shows the Options resolved for licensing. An Option shown by the Portal is not necessarily a separately orderable SKU or Purchased Bundle. Bundle-to-Option mapping is product-specific, so use the Licensed Product documentation and entitlement information when interpreting an order.

Standard Checkpoints

  1. Confirm the Customer Account, Device, Product, and Serial Number.

  2. Review the Device Identity Lease and Options.

  3. Complete the selected Online, Manual Device Identity Lease, Manual Host Signature, or License File procedure.

  4. Verify the resulting Portal state and licensed functions.

A Portal upload or download alone does not confirm Product-Side activation.

File Safety

  • Never upload a Request File generated by a different Device.

  • Preserve generated filenames unless an approved Riedel procedure requires a change.

  • Store Request Files, Manual Identity Lease Confirmations, and License Files in a controlled customer-specific location.

  • Do not attach Request Files, Manual Identity Lease Confirmations, or License Files to ordinary email or shared documentation.

  • Open support requests through Riedel Customer Success, and transfer complete Serial Numbers or licensing files only through an approved secure method.
