Upgrade Guidance

Rebuild AJA KUMO device configurations after upgrading, and confirm TLS certificate readiness for HTTPS deployments.

For an Ubuntu 24.04 installation, obtain the separate installation package supplied by Riedel Customer Success. The installer bundled with this release requires Ubuntu 20.04.

Contact Riedel Customer Success before upgrading an installation that has not previously run version 2.7.6.

For more information, see: Customer Support.

Before Upgrading

  1. Create a full system Backup.

  2. Record the configuration of each AJA KUMO device.

  3. For HTTPS deployments, confirm that every server in the Cluster and every client trusts the certificate chain.

  4. For an Ubuntu 24.04 installation, obtain the installation package supplied for that operating system.

For more information, see: AJA KUMO.

For more information, see: HTTPS and Certificate Requirements.

After Upgrading

Breaking Changes

AJA KUMO Device Rebuild Required

  • Previous AJA KUMO configurations are incompatible with this release and must be rebuilt.

Information

Operator Impact: Existing AJA KUMO configurations can produce unexpected runtime behavior after the upgrade.

Caution

Required Action: Rebuild every AJA KUMO device configuration after upgrading.

For more information, see: AJA KUMO.

New Integrations

Imagine Communications Selenio Network Processor (SNP)

  • Added a dedicated integration template for Imagine Communications® Selenio™ Network Processor (SNP).

For more information, see: Imagine Communications Selenio Network Processor (SNP).

Matrox ConvertIP

  • Added a dedicated integration template for Matrox® ConvertIP™.

For more information, see: Matrox ConvertIP.

Added

Portals

  • Introduced Portals. A Portal is a virtual re-entry point that lets a Destination appear on the Source side and be reused for routing.

  • Portals can be placed in Port Containers and inherit the pinned Parameters of their assigned Flow Ports. Additional Parameters can be assigned directly to a Portal.

For more information, see: Portals.

Change Tags with the Rule Engine

  • Introduced Rule Engine actions that update Format Tags automatically in response to Parameter changes.

For more information, see: Rules.

Include and Exclude Tag Filtering

  • Introduced explicit Include and Exclude options for more granular Tag filtering in the hi web interface.

  • In the Control Panel and Port Picker, selecting a Tag cycles through Include, Exclude, and unselected. These selections can be saved in Presets.

For more information, see: Tags.

Automatically Enable NMOS Senders When Routing

  • Introduced automatic setting of the NMOS Enable flag on Senders during routing when a Sender is not already enabled.

Caution

The system does not automatically disable the Sender's Enable flag on disconnect, so routes made outside hi continue to operate.

For more information, see: AMWA NMOS Core Integration.

Automatically Enable and Disable NMOS Receivers When Routing

  • Introduced automatic setting of the NMOS Enable flag on Receivers during route and disconnect operations.

For more information, see: AMWA NMOS Core Integration.

Assign Tag Button on the Users Page

  • Introduced an Assign Tag action directly on the Users page.

For more information, see: Users.

Delete Multiple Presets in Control Panel

  • Introduced deletion of multiple Presets directly from the Control Panel.

For more information, see: Control Panel.

Installation ID in the Browser Tab Title

  • Introduced the Installation ID in the browser tab title to distinguish multiple open hi systems.

For more information, see: Interface Orientation.

Connection State for Multiviewer Nodes

  • Introduced connection-state indication for Multiviewer Nodes.

  • TCP connections report their connection state. UDP has no connection tracking, so an online indication does not confirm that the receiving device is reachable.

For more information, see: Monitor Walls.

Remember Preset Selection

  • Introduced separate remembered Preset selections for the Control Panel and Monitor Walls when navigating between sections.

For more information, see: Control Panel.

Installation ID for System Backups

  • Introduced the Installation ID associated with each system backup in the Backup and Restore workspace.

For more information, see: Backups.

Reintroduced LRC Protocol

  • Added LRC support for installations where LRC+ does not perform as expected with some devices. Use LRC+ wherever possible.

For more information, see: Imagine LRC.

Login Failure Details

  • Introduced additional information in login failure messages.

For more information, see: Login.

Changed

Global and Local Search Coverage

  • Updated search behavior so users can search across all Labels or only the currently selected Labels of filtered items.

  • Local search follows the selected Label and is the default. Global search covers all Labels. The setting applies in the Control Panel and Port Picker and is retained in the current browser; clearing search text does not reset it.

For more information, see: Control Panel.

Redesigned Snapshot Tab

  • Updated the Snapshot page to replace nested scrolling with sidebar-based selection while preserving the existing workflow.

For more information, see: Snapshots.

Reorganized Sidebar Menu

  • Updated the sidebar menu to place Nodes, Port Containers, and Portals under a collapsible Inventory item and to add a collapsible Functions section.

For more information, see: Interface Orientation.

Retain Focus in Port Lists During Updates

  • Updated Port lists so the selected item retains focus during refresh and update operations.

Editable and Non-Editable Preset Differentiation

  • Updated Control Panels to differentiate more clearly between editable and non-editable Presets.

Combined References in the Port Reference Overview

  • Updated the Port Reference Overview to combine references when a single Source is connected to multiple Destinations.

For more information, see: Port Containers.

Updated Software Updates Text

  • Updated Software Updates text on the Settings tab for clarity and consistency.

Ubuntu 24.04 Server LTS Installation Script

  • Updated the hi installation scripts for Ubuntu 24.04 Server LTS, improving deployment reliability on supported operating systems.

For more information, see: Supported Operating Systems.

Port Container Creation Label Space

  • Updated the Port Container Creation dialog to use all available Label space.

For more information, see: Port Containers.

Removed

Manual Port Creation from Specific Nodes

  • Removed manual Port creation from Blackmagic Design® ATEM™ and Panasonic® KAIROS™ Nodes because these Nodes discover their available Ports automatically.

For more information, see: Blackmagic Design ATEM Series.

For more information, see: Panasonic KAIROS Series.

SDP Dialog for Control Panel-Only Users

  • Removed the SDP dialog for users who have only Control Panel permissions.

For more information, see: Access Control.
