NMOS Nodes or Ports Do Not Appear in hi

NMOS Nodes or Ports Do Not Appear in hi

Diagnosis

Scenario

An NMOS Core Integration Node is configured, but the expected NMOS devices or their Ports are absent.

Observed Behavior

Expected NMOS Nodes, senders, or receivers do not appear in hi, or appear without updating.

Possible Causes

With Auto Discovery set to Yes, hi searches for a registry that advertises the IS-04 Query service (_nmos-query._tcp) through multicast DNS, and ignores Registry URL. With No, hi connects only to the Registry URL. Other possible causes:

  • The devices are not registered with the registry that hi uses.

  • With a hi NMOS Registry, the devices do not use its address, or the registry's Interface is not the NMOS control network.

Prerequisites

  • Node checks require Node admin. Registry and NMOS network checks require the administrator responsible for the NMOS network.

  • Create NMOS Registry can be set only when the Node is created. Do not delete and recreate the Node to diagnose this symptom.

Resolution

  1. Node admin: Record the NMOS Core Integration Node state and its Auto Discovery and Registry URL values. If the Node is not online, follow A Node Remains Offline or Unreachable.

  2. If Auto Discovery is No, confirm that Registry URL is a full http:// or https:// URL with host and port.

  3. Ask the NMOS network administrator to query the registry and confirm that the expected devices are registered there. If they are not, correct the device-side registration first.

  4. If hi provides the registry, confirm that Interface is the NMOS control network and that devices register with the hi server address. See NMOS Registry.

  5. If devices are registered but still absent in hi, contact Riedel Customer Success with the registry query result.

Verify the Result

Confirm that the expected NMOS Nodes and Ports appear in hi and that a change at the registry arrives without a manual refresh.

See NMOS Core Integration for a diagram of how NMOS Nodes, the registry, and hi connect.

If the issue persists after these checks, contact Riedel Customer Success. Include the observations from this page, the Serial Number or Installation ID, the hi version, and a Backup and log export. See Customer Support.
