A Destination Lock Prevents Routing
Diagnosis
Scenario
You select a Destination, but cannot apply a new connection.
Observed Behavior
Take is disabled and the connection toolbar shows a lock. The name of the locking user, Hardware Panel, or Port Container appears below the lock icon.
Why This Happens
The Destination is locked to prevent routing changes. The current user cannot release another user's or panel's restricted lock without the Unlock admin role, which applies only to authorized Destinations.
Caution
Releasing a lock removes protection against routing changes. Do not request broader permissions or remove the lock without operational approval.
Prerequisites
-
Operator checks require Control Panel access and access to the affected Destination.
-
Releasing a restricted lock requires its owner or an account with Unlock admin access to that Destination.
-
Confirm with the operator responsible for the Destination that releasing the lock and changing the connection can proceed.
Resolution
-
Operator: Review the lock state and the locking entity shown below the lock icon.
-
If the tooltip of the lock control reads Unlock, select it to release the lock, only after confirming the operational impact.
-
If the tooltip reads Locked (no access to unlock), ask the named owner or an authorized Unlock admin to release it. If the lock must remain, stop and retain the current connection.
-
If no lock control is available, the Preset may have destination locking disabled. Use a Preset with locking enabled.
-
After a lock is released, review the intended Source and Destination again before applying a connection.
Verify the Result
Confirm that the lock has been released. If an authorized routing change is required, apply it and verify the resulting Source and monitored output.
