Microsoft Entra ID Sign-In Does Not Complete

Microsoft Entra ID Sign-In Does Not Complete

Diagnosis

Scenario

You select Entra ID on the hi sign-in screen.

Observed Behavior

One of these occurs:

  • hi shows Error with "Problem occurred while trying to login with Entra ID. Contact with your administrator." before the Microsoft sign-in page opens.

  • The Microsoft sign-in page shows its own error.

  • You complete Microsoft sign-in, the browser returns to hi, and hi shows Failed to login with "An unexpected error occurred during logging in. Please reach out to an administrator for assistance."

Possible Causes

The first message means the redirect to Microsoft could not start. An error on the Microsoft page comes from the identity provider, before hi is involved.

After a successful Microsoft sign-in, hi shows the same Failed to login message for several conditions:

  • The installation has no active Entra ID entitlement.

  • Entra ID sign-in is not enabled in System Settings.

  • hi does not accept the returned identity.

  • No user license is available.

Prerequisites

  • Record the message, the time, the account, and any error code on the Microsoft page. Do not record passwords or secrets.

  • Entitlement checks require Licensing admin. Session and capacity checks require User admin. Entra ID settings require the administrator responsible for System Settings. Tenant-side checks require the identity administrator.

  • Do not disable local sign-in or change Entra ID settings to diagnose this symptom.

Resolution

  1. User: Record which of the three outcomes occurred.

  2. If the Microsoft page shows an error, give its error code to the identity administrator. hi settings cannot correct a tenant-side rejection.

  3. If Error appears before redirection, ask the hi administrator to confirm the Entra ID configuration using Manage System Settings.

  4. If Failed to login appears after redirection:

    1. Ask a Licensing admin to confirm that the Entra ID entitlement is active. See License Details.

    2. Ask the responsible administrator to confirm that Entra ID sign-in is enabled.

    3. Ask a User admin to check user-license capacity. If a local account sign-in shows "All available user licenses are currently in use", capacity is the cause; follow Sign-In Does Not Complete.

  5. If the entitlement, setting, and capacity are correct, contact Riedel Customer Success with the time, the account, and the tenant name.

Verify the Result

Sign in with Entra ID and confirm that the account reaches an authorized page with the expected menu entries for its roles.

See Entra ID Authentication.

If the issue persists after these checks, contact Riedel Customer Success. Include the observations from this page, the Serial Number or Installation ID, the hi version, and a Backup and log export. See Customer Support.
