Updating a Snapshot Did Not Restore the Live State
Diagnosis
Scenario
You use Update All expecting to restore the Snapshot's saved configuration.
Observed Behavior
The live state is not restored, and the Snapshot's saved values now reflect current live state.
Why This Happens
Update copies live values into the saved Snapshot. Recall applies saved values to the live system. Confirming Overwrite replaces the previous saved values; they cannot be restored from that update action.
Caution
Recall changes the live system. Review its scope and operational consequences before applying it.
Prerequisites
-
Snapshot update and recall require Snapshot admin.
-
Identify the intended saved state and confirm whether Overwrite was completed.
-
Confirm the scope and operational impact before recalling any live configuration.
Resolution
-
Snapshot administrator: Stop further updates and inspect the Snapshot's saved values.
-
If you have not confirmed Overwrite, cancel to preserve the saved state. Use the supported recall workflow when you intend to apply saved values to the live system.
-
If Overwrite was completed, locate a separately retained Snapshot containing the required values. The updated Snapshot does not retain its previous values through that update action.
-
If a suitable retained Snapshot exists, inspect its scope and values before following Recall a Snapshot.
-
If no suitable saved state exists, contact Riedel Customer Success through Customer Support before attempting recovery. Do not reconstruct the required values by guessing.
Verify the Result
Confirm that the live values match the intended state and the Snapshot used for recovery.
