A Parameter Control Is Missing
Diagnosis
Scenario
You select a Port or Port Container in the Control Panel expecting a Node Parameter Control.
Observed Behavior
The expected control does not appear in the Widget Area.
Possible Causes
The parameter must be exposed by the Node, pinned, and assigned to the selected Port or Port Container. The Preset must have both Enable Widget Area and Enable parameter control selected. On Hardware Panels, Single Destination Presets do not support Parameter Control. Pinning a parameter alone does not complete its assignment.
Prerequisites
-
Operator checks require access to the intended Control Panel Preset and Port or Port Container.
-
Pinning and assignment changes require an account with Node admin.
-
Preset changes require the administrator responsible for the Preset.
Resolution
-
Operator: Select the intended Port or Port Container in the intended Preset.
-
Ask the Preset administrator to confirm that Enable Widget Area and Enable parameter control are selected. If either is cleared, review the Preset configuration before selecting it.
-
If both options are selected but the control is absent, ask the Node administrator to inspect the exposed parameter, pin, and assignment using Assign a Parameter Control.
-
Administrator: Correct the missing pin or assignment for the intended objects. If the Node does not expose the parameter, review the relevant integration documentation rather than creating an assumed control.
Verify the Result
Select an assigned Port or Port Container and confirm that the control appears. A visible control does not mean that its parameter is writable; its behavior depends on the parameter's data type and write capability.
