Create Portals
Overview
Create individual or numbered Portals for a routing workflow.
Prerequisites
-
Use Port Container admin and open Inventory > Portals.
-
Confirm the Portal licensing prerequisites.
-
Identify the required signal format, names, and color.
Creating Portals
Users with Port Container admin create Portals from the Portals page, either individually or in bulk:
-
Create an individual Portal - Select + and configure the Portal name, color, format type, and optional naming overrides.
-
Create Portals in bulk - Use the bulk workflow when several Portals share a Format, Color, and naming structure.
When creating a Portal manually, select the signal format type from the list. The format type determines which Ports and Port Containers the Portal can connect to.
See the illustrated example.
Add Portals in Bulk
Use Add Portals from the three-dot menu to bulk-create several Portals with the same format and color. For a camera-routing workflow, use matching video formats at the Source and Destination, for example, an SDI Portal for a Virtual Camera feed and an SDI Portal for a vision-mixer input.
See the illustrated example.
-
On the Portals page, open the three-dot menu and select Add Portals.
-
Select the common Format Type and Color.
-
Enter the Primary Name pattern and insert
{COUNTER}where the generated number should appear. Set Counter Digits, Starting Portal Number, and Number of Portals. -
Review First name example to confirm the naming pattern.
-
Select Create to add the Portals.
See the illustrated example.
Bulk creation sets the Monitoring Name and Mixer Name to the Primary Name and derives a shortened Panel Name from it. To change these names later, select the Portals in the Portal list and use its rename action.
Verify the Result
Confirm that the Portals appear in the inventory with the intended names and format. Check for duplicate names before routing.
Next Steps
Use Route Portals to assign their Source and Destination connections.
