Route Portals
Overview
Use virtual Portal Sources and Destinations in a Control Panel routing workflow.
Prerequisites
-
Use Control Panel access and Tag access to the required Ports and Portals.
-
The required Portals and Preset must already be configured.
Using Portals in the Control Panel
Portals appear alongside Port Containers in the Control Panel Source and Destination lists. When configuring a routing Widget, the Port Picker dialog allows adding both Port Containers and Portals. See Configure a Line Transmit Widget for that Widget's configuration procedure.
See the illustrated example.
Caution
Check the selected Preset's Take Mode before routing. In Direct Take mode, completing the Source and Destination selection changes the live route immediately.
To route a Portal:
-
Select the Portal as a Source or Destination in the Control Panel.
-
Select the target (another Portal or a Flow Port) on the opposite side.
-
In Take mode, review the queued connection and select Take. In Direct Take mode, the selection applies the connection immediately. See Route a Source to a Destination for the mode-specific procedure.
To disconnect a Portal, route the Disconnect Source to the Portal Destination.
Portals in Snapshots
Snapshots can include Portal connections. See Manage Snapshots. When a Snapshot is recalled, Portal-to-Portal and Portal-to-Port connections are restored along with standard Port Container Crosspoints.
Verify the Result
Inspect the resulting Signal Path and the connected Source on each affected Destination. Resolve any loop indication before using the route.
Next Steps
Use Manage Snapshots to save selected operational values.
