What the License Enables
hiLink adds one floating entitlement for a third-party client. A third-party client is a Northbound client or a supported third-party Hardware Panel. Each active Northbound session and each active supported third-party Hardware Panel consumes one hiLink unit. A supported third-party Hardware Panel also consumes one user session. The installation must also have hiDock.

Requirements and Combinations
hiLink requires hiBase for an existing hiBase installation or hiCore for a new installation, plus installation-wide hiDock. Select the hiLink quantity to match the maximum number of simultaneously active Northbound sessions and supported third-party Hardware Panels. Each supported third-party Hardware Panel uses one session, but an additional hiUser license is needed only when the required simultaneous sessions exceed the two included with hiBase or hiCore; one included session is reserved for the administrator.
Planning Notes
Size hiLink for the peak number of active Northbound sessions and supported third-party Hardware Panels. Capacity returns to the shared pool when a client is disabled or removed. For example, three simultaneous supported third-party Hardware Panels need three hiLink licenses and two additional hiUser licenses, plus one hiDock; the remaining included session after the administrator reservation covers one panel.
Scope Boundary
hiLink does not itself provide the Northbound Interface gateway; the installation must also be licensed for hiDock. hiLink does not apply to native hi Hardware Panels or RIEDEL 1200 Series SmartPanel devices. See the hiGlue datasheet for native panel and GPIO requirements.
Compatibility and Transition
RIEDEL 1200 Series SmartPanel Control Panel App workflows on hi version 2.7.8 and later use hiGlue and hiUser instead of hiLink for panel sessions.
