What the License Enables
hiUser adds concurrent operator capacity. The floating model lets browser sessions and operator-facing Hardware Panels share a pool as shifts change.

Requirements and Combinations
hiUser requires hiBase for an existing hiBase installation or hiCore for a new installation. Both include two concurrent user sessions, including one reserved administrator session. Add hiUser licenses for the peak number of additional simultaneous sessions.
Panel connectivity is licensed separately from session capacity. Native hi Hardware Panels use hiGlue. Third-party clients, including supported third-party Hardware Panels, use installation-wide hiDock and one hiLink per active client.
For a worked example with three supported third-party Hardware Panels, see Licensing: Worked License Examples.
Planning Notes
Size hiUser for the busiest operating period, not the total number of named users. A session is released when the active connection ends, so shift-based teams can share the same pool.
For RIEDEL 1200 Series SmartPanel workflows on hi version 2.7.8 and later, each panel uses hiGlue and one hiUser session. The panel workflow does not use hiLink in those versions.
Scope Boundary
hiUser adds concurrent session capacity; it does not enable Hardware Panel connectivity. Use the panel's integration page and the relevant connectivity datasheet to confirm its requirements. hiContact GPIO remains outside the hiUser session count.
Each Integrations page lists the primary license for that device. Each active operator-facing Hardware Panel also consumes one user session. This session requirement does not make hiUser the device's primary license.
