Route a Source to a Destination

Route a Source to a Destination

Overview

Connect an authorized Source to a Destination using the selected Preset's Take Mode.

Prerequisites

  • Use an account with Control Panel access and Tag access to the required Sources and Destinations.

  • Open Control Panel and select the required Preset.

Caution

In Direct Take mode, selecting the Source changes the live connection immediately.

Route the Signal

  1. In the Destination list, select the required Destination. Use the Tag filters or the Port search to find it; see the Port list reference.

  2. In the Source list, select the required Source.

  3. In Take mode, review the queued connection and select Take in the connection toolbar between the lists. In Direct Take mode, selecting the Source completes the connection immediately.

  4. If the Connect Port Containers dialog opens, review the pairings and apply the connection. See Review and Connect Port Containers.

  5. Confirm that the Destination shows the selected Source.

See the illustrated example of the connection toolbar between the Source and Destination lists. A Preset in Single Destination mode has a fixed Destination, so select only the Source.

The connection toolbar also provides Multiselect Mode and Lock. The Take button is visible only in Take mode. See Preset settings.

Verify the Result

Confirm that the Destination shows the intended Source and that the connection state is healthy.

Next Steps

Use Inspect a Signal Path when the expected route is unavailable. Use Undo a Routing Change to restore the previous Source, or Route Multiple Sources and Destinations to take several connections together.
