Manage Parameter Containers

Manage Parameter Containers

Overview

Pin device parameters, combine compatible numeric parameters, and review their Port assignments.

Prerequisites

  • Use Node admin and open a parameter-capable Node under Inventory > Nodes.

  • Confirm that the Node is connected and identify the parameters to manage.

  • Read Parameter Control for supported value behavior.

Parameter Control Nodes

  1. Open the Node's Parameters tab, which lists the pinned parameters.

  2. Select + to open the parameter browser.

  3. In the parameter browser, select one or more items and select Pin Selected.

  4. Confirm that the selected parameters appear in the Node's pinned parameter list.

If the parameter browser's + action is disabled, check the Node's Connection State. The action is unavailable when no state is reported or the Node is Disabled, Unknown, Disconnected, or Timeout. Follow A Node Remains Offline or Unreachable for connection checks.

For Unpin or Delete, select Parameters or Parameter Containers separately. A mixed selection, or a selection containing locked Parameters, prevents those actions. Do not remove locks merely to make an action available; check the intended configuration with the responsible administrator.

See the illustrated example.

To create a Parameter Container, select compatible pinned parameters and select Create Parameter Container.

Enter a Parameter Container Name, then select Create.

Child parameters that are not already pinned are pinned automatically when the container is created.

The selected parameters must meet the Parameter Container requirements.

See the illustrated example.

Select the Container to open its details, then select Contents to review its child parameters.

Removing a child from the Container does not remove the underlying device parameter.

See the illustrated example.

To add parameters to an existing Container, select that Container and one or more compatible numeric parameters.

Select Add to Parameter Container.

See the illustrated example.

To assign a pinned parameter or Container to Ports, select it, then select Assign to Ports.

For Container value behavior and widget display, see Concepts: Parameter Control.

See the illustrated example.

Information

See also: Concepts: Parameter Control for parameter types and pinning. Manage Widgets for how pinned parameters appear as widgets.

Verify the Result

Confirm that the pinned parameters and Container contents match the intended selection. Check the live parameter values before exposing controls to operators.

Next Steps

Use Assign a Parameter Control for the dedicated Port assignment workflow.
