Rename Multiple Labels
Overview
Apply a reviewed naming pattern to multiple editable labels.
Prerequisites
-
Use the administration role required by the list being edited; Port label changes require Node admin.
-
Identify the selected items and editable target fields. Name from Device is read-only.
Bulk Rename
The Bulk Rename tool allows renaming multiple items at once using find-and-replace, sequential numbering, or name copying. It is available for Port labels on the Labels tab of a Node.
Opening the Bulk Rename Dialog
-
Select multiple items, such as Ports on the Labels tab.
-
Select the rename action to open Multi-Rename.
-
Set the rename or copy mode and the target fields using the controls below.
-
Review Result Preview for every intended naming change before applying it.
-
Select Rename to apply the reviewed names.
Edit New Name Mode
With Edit new name selected, the dialog provides two text fields:
|
Field |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Rename From |
The text to match in existing names. Use |
|
Rename To |
The replacement text. Supports counter and list placeholders. |
Sequential Numbering
Select Insert Counter to add a counter placeholder to the Rename To field. Configure the counter with:
-
Digits - the minimum number of digits (zero-padded). For example, 3 digits produces 001, 002, 003.
-
Start - the starting number for the counter sequence.
Select Remove Counter to remove the counter placeholder.
List Cycling
Select Insert List to add a list placeholder. Enter comma-separated text values (for example, L,R) in the Texts field. The list cycles through the values for each item, wrapping around when the list is exhausted.
Copy Mode
When available, the dialog provides a Copy from other name mode. In Copy mode, select a Source name field (for example, Primary Name or Original Name) and target name fields. The tool copies values from the Source field into the selected target fields for all items.
Write To Selection
When multiple name fields exist (for example, Primary Name, Monitoring Name, Panel Name, and Mixer Name), use the checkboxes in the Write to section to select which name fields receive the new values. In Edit Mode with a specific Rename From value, each selected field is renamed independently.
On All Layers Option
When the Rename on Physical, Flow and Essence Layers checkbox is shown, enable it to apply the rename operation across all device Layers simultaneously. When disabled, the rename applies only to the current Layer.
Result Preview
The lower portion of the dialog displays a live preview table showing old names alongside new names for all selected items. The preview updates immediately as rename parameters are changed. When more than 100 items are selected, only the first 100 are displayed in the preview.
See the illustrated example.
Verify the Result
Confirm that the selected labels have the previewed names and that fields outside the selected write targets are unchanged.
