What is a Guardband
A guardband is a predefined duration added to both ends of a clip.
It allows operators to extend the clip later.
Extension is possible even after record trains loop.
Looping overwrites unprotected footage.
Guardbands ensure protected areas remain intact.
The system adds guardbands automatically during clip creation.
This applies in all cases:
-
When IN and OUT points are marked.
-
When only IN or OUT is marked (using default durations).
-
When no points are marked (using default durations before and after current position).
Guardband duration is configurable. It is set in the Preferences menu.
Pro Tip
Set longer guardbands for events with unpredictable action. This gives flexibility to trim or extend highlights without losing key moments.
